Throw Me Out of the Ballpark

Nothing wrong with this. The premise is decent. It's not as entertaining as some of the previous episodes. Homer becomes a celebrity when he dances on the dugout of Springfield's minor league team's park. Eventually he goes to Capital City, but there are challenges along the way. I especially enjoyed the family's arrival and the sights they see.

Keep On Dancin'

Warning: Spoilers
Dancin' Homer.

My opening confession. I don't much care for sports and have little knowledge of most of them. That includes baseball. So some of the jokes did fly waaaaaaaaaaaaay over my head, but for the most part I did find the episode very amusing and entertaining, particularly for taking The Simpsons view of taking typical TV plots (shows have had characters getting involved with a sports team.) it refrains from the major teams and to the more realistic, obscure small town teams. (Except for Capitol City which comes later in the episode)

The show at the time in it's infancy (hard at times to believe that the show was once fairly new.) and it suffers from a major character being moved into the background. Specifically the only time the Capitol City Goofball has had a vocal appearance (guest star Tom Poston) but I think Homer's capering as Dancin' Homer is very heart-warming as well as funny.

The episode ends on quite a sombre note (despite the reassurance that he told a great story, Homer spends much of his time in Moe's quite down-beat) but it's a fun feel-good ride for the most part.

I don't know very much about Baseball, but that did not hinder my enjoyment of this vastly entertaining episode of the show in the slightest.

It's a really fun episode, and most importantly a funny one, in which Homer becomes a mascot.

With lots of good jokes along the way, this is a good episode from S2 of the show.

Dancin' Homer

Warning: Spoilers
Dancin' Homer is not a bad episode from the early years of The Simpsons, and it's not the best but nevertheless by Simpsons standards it still makes for an entertaining episode that deals with the life of a mascot and how the audience can respond to that.

I've been watching The Simpsons since it debuted all those years ago, and for me it's the first ten seasons that are the gold standard, although some episodes post-season 10 are worthy to watch for sure.

It's interesting to know how the current generation of viewers of The Simpsons would view the early episodes and all, but definitely worth watching.

Surprised by the lower rating on here

The episode has some early series roughness to the animation and a few of the gags don't work but it is a very funny and engaging episode. I haven't watched this episode for 30 years until the other day when I started going through the series to review it. But it is a testament to how iconic Dancing Homer is that I remembered basically everything about it. Re-watching this was like encountering a long loss friend.

You cannot get more essentially American than Homer being a minor league baseball mascot.

Confused by feelings of respect

Homer tells the story of his time as a baseball mascot.

This is a strong episode with great character moments for Homer.

Who doesn't love a rise and fall story? The concept alone is funny and that's without the consistent humour found in the dialogue and visuals.

I like the homage to 'Pride of the Yankees' and love the Simpsons' hilarious drive around the Capital City. However, my favourite moment is the sequence of goodbyes the family make before uprooting.

A Misstep in The Simpsons' Early Seasons
santifersan11 August 2023
While the first three seasons of The Simpsons remain my favorites, "Dancin' Homer" stands out as the weakest link among those cherished golden underrated seasons. It's evident that the show had yet to fully mature into its later form, and in this episode, we encounter a storyline that seems more befitting of obscure and failed series from that era.

It is unfair that a masterful episode like Homer's Odyssey from season one has a lower rating than this episode.

However, we can still enjoy the animation that inherits the style of the 80s and the settings that also inherit the style of the 80s. There are also some good comedic moments.

The most underrated episode yet.

This is the most underrated episode of the simpsons yet. This is my first watch of the simpsons actually and I want to binge all of it, and till now, this was the most entertaining episode alongside with Krusty gets busted episode. I don't really know why this has 7.4, but if I can change it, I would give it a 9.

Decent little episode. The scene where Mr. Burns attempts to throw the opening pitch will never not be funny.

Vastly Entertaining!

The fifth episode in the second season of the Simpsons is really worth watching and is funny as well. It may not the best episode, but as a baseball fan, I knew I would enjoy this episode. I can see why sports fans may not like this, but the jokes did not go over my head. Also the cameo by Tony Bennett is worth watching for.

In this episode, "Dancin' Homer," Homer drunkenly dances at a baseball game in Springfield and somehow snaps their losing streak. When that happens, he becomes their mascot. Eventually, he gets called up to Capital City where he gets promoted to the Bigs.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode because it's baseball-related. It's funny, especially when Homer begins busting out his moves. I rate this episode 9/10.

BORING
livatele30 November 2022
This is the most BORING episode I've seen in a cartoon, they just put anything to get to 22 minutes no matter how boring that is, terrible it doesn't even deserve 1 star, it deserves -2 stars for how boring it is.

I don't know what they were trying to do with this, if a serious or funny episode but the number of unnecessary scenes are so many that I would prefer that they never have this and take advantage of that time for a better episode than this one.

Practically half of the episode is taken to simply present the event that will mark the rest of the episode, it sounds good to go deeper into that but then it goes to waste when they simply put filler and that's it, and that's the same thing with the second half, simply regrettable.
