"Michael Gets Suspended" opens with the 'militant midget' coming home early from school, having been suspended for calling our first President, George Washington, a racist because he owned slaves. By refusing to apologize to his elderly teacher the school had no choice than to send him home, and JJ, Thelma, and even Willona admit that the woman has been teaching there forever. Willona leaves when James returns home, his first reference to her as 'the Rona Barrett of the projects,' and despite Florida's attempts to get him to retire early he learns soon enough the fate of his youngest son. Michael is not willing to apologize because he feels that he's right, but Florida opens his eyes by revealing that he needed to learn about everything that was wrong before he could discover what was right. James is amazed to find that 'a spook sailed with Columbus,' and figures to take Columbus Day off from work! Thelma's room is full of posters of rock stars like Jimi Hendrix, and we find out how much she loves Billy Dee Williams.
