A positive movie that showcases Taiwan
bengoren19 March 2007
This is a movie that will appeal to a younger audience and specifically one that enjoys story lines based around dance and the theme of coming of age. I enjoyed this movie for it's soundtrack and the visuals employed which often make Taiwan look prettier than it can sometimes look on a day to day basis. The lead characters are good though the lead female is radically underwritten and under utilised sometimes leaving the viewer wondering why she is the narrating voice. I found this movie to be uplifting and enjoyable and some of the dancing was spectacular but its possible a hip hop dance enthusiast may find it more mundane. Above all its nice to see a truly Taiwanese movie that has a very Taiwanese touch, especially evident in the role of the almost dialogue-less father. This is not an earth-shatteringly great movie but it is good entertainment which i recommend for a slow Sunday when there are no other big hit movies worth watching.

Okay but Nothing Spectacular..
ichocolat4 September 2007
Qiao ke li zhong ji, translated as Chocolate Rap is a movie about teenagers finding their identity, and about life and peer pressure synonymous with young age. The story is also about the street life, street dancing in particular.

The movie is Okay, but nothing spectacular that will leave the audiences to remember this movie for a long time.

The dialogs sound unnatural and forced, and it hurts the movie as a whole. The facial expressions also did not reflect the dialogs. I mean, when the main actor is shouting to show that he is feeling angry, his facial expression seems to show that he is having constipation.

The movie moves at a very slow pace, it made the audiences bored fast. The plot developed very slowly, it is unbearable to watch it without the urge to fast forward the scenes.

The only thing that salvage this movie is the music in the movie. The catchy tunes and the dances is enjoyable to watch.
