It is the start of the thirteen series of Last of the Summer Wine and there has been huge change in the way it is filmed. The switch to videotape when previously the outside location scenes were shot on film. This does mean you lose the soft focus look of the outdoor scenes with some of the lighting looking harsh. Not a good thing when the bulk of your cast is elderly.

Now Smiler is lodging with Nora Batty, Compo is depressed that Smiler might be up to no good with her. At one point Compo offers Smiler his ferrets. 'You have pinch me best bird, you might as well have me ferrets.'

Smiler tells Compo he is terrified of Nora Batty and things it is worse than being in jail. Foggy tells them that in jail the warders are less fierce (actor Brian Wilde knew a thing or two about being a warden in jail.)

Foggy decides to cheer up Compo with dancing. He saw it in the jungle where dancing is used to ward off evil spirits. Watching Foggy doing the tango with Clegg certainly does cheer him Compo, because they look like berks.
