Friendships and rivalries
Leofwine_draca13 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 14 is a pretty solid entry in the TV series. Victoria and David begin an unexpected friendship while there are some effectively creepy moments in the Collinwood house, with ghost and the like discussed. Meanwhile, back in town, Joe and Burke become apparent rivals for Carolyn's hand. In terms of plot development this is pretty light, but at least it's entertaining with it.

"You Manage with Your Monsters"
wes-connors25 July 2011
After leafing through his Mechano Magazine, David goes to plant a small object in Vicki's room. He manages to leave it in her second dresser drawer before Vicki (Alexandra Moltke) catches him. David says he was planning to leave her a small shell as a gift. Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) lets Vicki know she should be suspicious. While a storm is heard brewing outside, Joe (Joel Crothers) arrives to take Carolyn to the movies. Somebody should have noticed the "chemistry" when Vicki and Joe meet; they act together well. Hoping to see Burke (Mitchell Ryan), Carolyn wants to go to the Blue Whale, instead...

This episode's opening should have been seen closer to the ending of episode ten, last week. By the way, that is a "bleeder valve" you see in David's hand. Yes, a bleeder valve. This isn't a bad storyline, but the presentation is not good. This plot is stretched excessively thin, and is often very confusing - possibly on purpose. This episode affords us the best early look at the box, which once held the Hand of Count Andres Petofi. It's the box in the upstairs hallway, also seen in the first week of episodes. Nice to see Jamison Joseph Collins kept the box, in spite of his familiarity with its sordid history...

A rather blsnd stormy night.

Warning: Spoilers
This is only memorable for the scene between Carolyn and Victoria where Carolyn expresses her desire for Burke Devlin and the fact that she's basically just stringing Joe Haskell along. It's obvious that there's no chance of a friendship between Joe and Burke because of that, but really, nothing much happens other than the fact that David expresses his further dislike of Victoria yet has fantasies that his MIA mother will return. The hint of Collinwood ghosts is also expressed through the presence of a door that has been locked for 50 years. Not every episode needs to be action packed or overwhelmed with detail, but this one sort of just lays there with nothing happening.
