"Do You Think You Could Dig Up a Murderer?"
wes-connors1 August 2011
While David (David Henesy) does what he can to avoid his lessons, Collinsport lawman Michael Currie (as Jonas Carter) arrives to investigate Roger's car crash. The Constable worked on the ten-year-old manslaughter trial and is aware Roger (Louis Edmonds) wants Burke arrested. Carter asks Roger, "Do you have something against an open mind?" and reminds him they are only dealing with an attempted murder. Carter questions the residents, especially Vicki (Alexandra Moltke), who saw Burke near Roger's car with a wrench on the evening in question...

Director John Sedwick does very well in the full cast scene involving how young David deals with the fact that his fingerprints must be all over the wrench Carter retrieves for evidence. Joan Bennett appears distant and fidgety, but she could be thinking about how she'll get Roger to agree he helped hire Vicki from the Hammond Foundling Home. The old friend Carter talks to on the phone, lieutenant Frank Palmer, never appears on screen. This was the first appearance for Mr. Currie, who sets a good standard for the various lawmen who will appear on the series...
