Psychopathic Drama
actorforhire7 December 2006
I particularly enjoyed the tension between FBI Agent Morgan and Private Investigator Brodski as they are both determined to solve the case before the other, and the total lack of protocol by Morgan (who doesn't get any respect from his subordinates). The relationship between these two could have been developed further in this film. Also enjoyable was the Profiler delving into the psyche of the serial killer. I thought the nudity wasn't overly done and did not detract the quality of this film. Pay attention to flashback scenes. After hearing and reading the news in Harrisburg the last month or so, this story could actually have happened!

Psycho-thriller

This is a movie you need to watch more than once.

It has a very interesting cult-like feeling and a rawness at times that is super real. The acting is uneven at times but in general doesn't really hurt the film's story line. There are also some funny moments between the detectives, the police chef and the profiler.

I liked the fact that the profiler really enjoyed getting into the sicko head of the killer. The use of flash backs can get a bit confusing. You have to remember them to get to the bottom of this complicated story. This is why you may want to watch it more than once. Be aware there is some graphic nudity. Good thing it is in B&W

If you like RAW and feeling like a voyeur in an odd story, you will like this.

Elizabeth Brinkley

Films are information for a viewers discretion not for personal attacks on the actors(es). I personally have not seen the movie. I do not watch much TV due to the nudity & profanity that is shown in most films. A personal attack on Elizabeth Brinkley is not only absurd but shows exactly the paranoid mental state this person is in by attacking this woman professionally. The agenda of PeTA & HSUS is to stop ALL EATING, KEEPING, BREEDING & Using of ALL Animals. "Higher Court" and others like him are terrorists who live among us and are destroying our freedom and the world as we known it. His opinions of Elizabeth Brinkley are of personal opinion and is not one of her acting ability. Please delete this mans comments of Elizabeth Brinkley.

Comments about the film have no validity when they are attacking one of the actors for personal beliefs. The comments made about Elizabeth Brinkley are libelous and I hope the site will identify the person to Elizabeth, thereby allowing her to institute a law suit against the individual.

Elizabeth is known for her stance on animal welfare, and she is not an animal rights person. There is a difference!

This site is no place to display one's ignorance and make personal insults instead of giving a critique of the film. Sorry this doesn't, either...but I hope whoever is in charge of this site removes the personal attack against one of the actors in the film.

Some Kind of Justice Justly Served

This is a well put-together movie. There is more nudity and adult situations than I would normally watch. (Some scenes were very graphic!) However, the storyline and concept were very good. (The actors were also very convincing in their roles.) I always love murder mysteries. And the twists and turns in this movie are enough to keep anyone on their toes. (I had the murderer pegged as one character up until the end, and then I found out I was wrong! This is not an average "by the book" murder-mystery, but a roller-coaster of a psycho-thriller with lots of twists and turns along the way.) This is definitely an under-appreciated film. I can't wait to see more movies from this company.

Federal Court
AnimalWelfare200727 April 2008
Unfortunately, "Higher Court" is not who he appears to be. He is not a teacher nor an instructor or professor, but rather a misguided individual who is quite annoyed at the purchase he has made. To make such claims as the entire class refusing to watch a film because one actress is in, surely gives him away as being a fraud. It is not who does the acting, but what the content of the film is. Was he trying to publicize the actress or the information to further the student's knowledge? also to allow students to have control over the teacher on what he chooses as a teaching tool is sad. This is why I am stating that this is by no means an educator, "Higher Court", but an animal rights terrorists, who thinks they have found a way through deception by claiming his profession as a teacher.

We, the Animal Welfarists welcome Ms. Brinkley and her efforts in trying her best in joining all responsible animal owners together to work as a whole unit in their right to privately own. Animal Rights is a dirty word amongst us animal welfare groups, and we are NOT to be clumped together with them, the animal rights terrorists who have sentenced all animals to their death. Bravo for Ms. Brinkley!

bad comments on Elizabeth Brinkly
cnofhl27 April 2008
To the animal activists who wrote bad comments on Elizabeth Brinkly, Elizabeth has worked many years toward keeping our animals safe and to help protect our rights to own our wonderful dogs or any other animals! People should educate them selves to the TRUE out come these activists want. Mainly eliminating anyones right to love and own a pet. Imagine not having the right to own and love your pets? She spends quality time working to protect all of your rights to not have the right to own an animal taken away. Nobody wants animals mistreated, starved, abused in any way. You all watched Oprah with her dog show and why didn't these people turn in the puppy mills rather than try to save one or a few dogs, why not bring in the state of PA and let true animal lovers shut down these places? The puppy mills have brokers and sell to pet shops! They never know were and to whom their pups will go! A show exhibitor will check out new homes and also guarantee to take the animal back if they can't keep them! Also they provide hours of help so the dog will have a great home! Puppy mills don't test for genetic problems like a reputable breeder will. Leave Elizabeth alone, may we all be as caring and as passoninate as she is!

Elizabeth Brinkley, review, PeTA?????
hamadryad17 May 2007
The movie was great- I am a big fan of mysteries. And I agree that black and white is usually best (For me at least) when dealing with graphic violence.

But the animal rights twit who wrote a bad review of Elizabeth Brinkley's presence in the film, without mentioning her performance, is typical of the mindset we animal lovers see more and more daily. What does Elizabeth's fight for our right to own pets (PeTA's agenda is to eliminate all animal ownership as soon as possible- read their literature on site) have to do with a great performance in a film? The animal rights drones are ruining every aspect of life for those of us who love our pets and anyone who likes to wear something other than pleather.

Personal attack on actress
etbmfa27 April 2008
This pathetic attempt to damage the reputation of this actress is typical of the childish fanaticism of the animal rights terrorists. This actress has devoted over 40 years of her life to ANIMAL WELFARE!!! Animal Welfare or Animal Rights? Here are some of the differences: As animal welfare advocates. . .

• We seek to improve the treatment and well-being of animals.

• We support the humane treatment of animals that ensures comfort and freedom from unnecessary pain and suffering.

• We believe we have the right to "own" animals -- they are our property.

• We believe animal owners should provide loving care for the lifetime of their animals.

As animal rights activists. . .

• They seek to end the use and ownership of animals, including the keeping of pets.

• They believe that any use of an animal is exploitation so, not only must we stop using animals for food and clothing, but pet ownership must be outlawed as well.

• They want to obtain legal rights for animals as they believe that animals and humans are equal.

• They use false and unsubstantiated allegations of animal abuse to raise funds, attract media attention and bring supporters into the movement. (The Inhumane Crusade, Daniel T. Oliver)

PeTA = Pathetic Ethics Towards Animals.

Their motto is "Better Dead Than Fed".

Pity the NC courts didn't fry the lowlifes who acquired those poor, defenseless animals by lying, then killed them in their van and dumped them like trash.

Hypocrite thugs.

Take your pathetic attempt to throw dirt at Ms Brinkley by posting to a movie forum and stuff it. I guess you gave a rave review to the lousy PeTA-endorsed movie starring Molly Shannon.

Elizabeth Brinkley rocks.

Two thumbs up for animal WELFARE - flush the animal rightists like the turds they are.

Harrisburg is the new New York
espband8 January 2007
From the trenches of Central Pennsylvania comes this thriller with action, violence and not a little nudity. All the things that make life worthwhile.

The acting is quite consistent for an independent film. Young director Doug Howard gets the most out of this ensemble cast. Ed Bergtold, Conrad Martin and Kevyn Settle all turn in great performances as Jim, John and Jeppy, never letting on exactly who is inside whose head. The interplay between renegade cop Mike Lazorcik and detective Liz Tapia is fantastic, and Tapia looks to be the breakout star of the group.

The Black and White production adds to the raw and foreboding feel of the entire picture, and the background music by Progressive Dementia is top notch.

Great Psycho Thriller!
Liz-42111 January 2007
This is a very interesting film that definitely keeps you on your toes when trying to figure out who the killer really is. There is some graphic nudity involved but it doesn't detract from the story. I love the black and white raw feeling it portrays, and I think it was a smart choice.

Director/Producer Doug Howard puts out an interesting piece as well as thought provoking. The characters are very well cast and it's fun to watch FBI Investigator Morgan and Private Detective Brodski interact as they both try to solve the case before the other. I wish these characters were developed a bit more. You really need to pay close attention to the flash back scenes because it's very important to the storyline. The characters of Jim, John, and Jeppy are very well played out and at times it's hard to figure out who is inside whose head. All of the actors are convincing in their roles and interesting to watch.

The bits of music from Progressive Dementia were awesome. I would liked to have heard more of their music throughout the film. These guys are fantastic and their music is brilliant especially when you hear them live.

Love the fact that it makes you think and everything is not understood. Can't wait to see more from this director.

Good First feature film
jeromy1706124 December 2006
This film is shot in black and white, the gritty nature of the content lends well to b/w. I watched it twice and liked it even more the second time, the film draws you in. Very good for low budget first time full length movie. Well written suspense/thriller script, use of shadows and scenery done very well. Musical cues through out the film were well timed and appropriate to mood and settings, but overall the sound needed reworked. Actors facial expressions were captured very well, good use of close ups for personal character reactions. Very good character acting. Unique story and an interesting setting. I can't think of a similar story anywhere, very creative and fresh in this time remakes and sequels.

What her political beliefs are have absolutely nothing to do with her acting ability. She is a serious, accomplished, hard working actress and should be judged accordingly-on her talent, not her politics. Animal rights activists don't seem to be able to accept that not everyone shares their beliefs. We have the right to our opinions just like they have the right to theirs. We have the right to choose what we eat, wear, and what animals we wish to keep as long as they are fed and cared for. Too many people blindly support PeTA and HSUS and don't realize that they are robbing us of our basic rights and civil liberties. How would it feel if your grandchildren couldn't have a puppy, kitten, or rabbit, or they couldn't go fishing with their friends, parents or grandparents. What a sad loss of a wholesome, normal upbringing.
