First episode of the second season is a fine one, telling the legend of a German gold prospector called the Dutchman who was said to have wandered out of the Arizona desert in the 1860's, claiming to have found a rich gold mine, but was unable to do anything with it himself without assistance. After he died, many gold hunters were bit by the gold bug, and ventured out into the desert to find this mine, which was said to be well hidden, which turned out to be the case, as no one was able to locate it, and many people died trying to find it. Atmospheric and fascinating tale will captivate the viewer, and case was later retold on "Unsolved Mysteries".

One entertaining episode! The Western music, reenactments, story telling and Len's narration makes for one entertaining episode. What I liked is the photo shoots of the rugged Arizona's landscape and the reenactment of the Dutchman Mine story. The Apache's story of the mine/legend is told by the Apache's themselves. The stories of people who went after the gold mine. Local's thoughts about people who wonder In Search of gold. Gold fever, people trying to find who they are, and people chasing after a dream is what the locals think. Local's call it fools gold. Nothing there. 1984 it became illegal to gold hunt the area so the show is dated. An entertaining 22 minutes. Eight gold nuggets out of ten. A golden episode!

In Search of... "The Lost Dutchman Mine" (1977)
The Superstition Mountains in Arizona is the main focus of this episode, which takes a look at gold hunting and the superstition believes by the Apache Indians. The Lost Dutchman Mine is a legend about a gold prospector who found a fortune but could never fully tell where he got it. This has led thousands to try and find this mine. For the most part this is a good episode and a nice way to kick off the second season. There are some nice interviews along the way but of course the highlight is just the storytelling itself. I liked how the gold hunting was shown from different view points and it made for an entertaining episode.
Episode: B+
