I had read about this show and as a German, I was curious why they picked a German title. Japanese seem to be fascinated by German things (Neon Genesis Evangelion is full of German words in key story elements, Attack on Titan has half their characters using German/Jewish names and several other anime also like to wink at German culture or history).
In this pilot, we get a very immediate start with "Lucy" escaping off an island prison, killing many in her way. We are also introduced to Yuka and Kohta, two young students who are about to live together in a house that belongs to Yuka's parents. When they both find Lucy (or rather her alter ego split personality "Nyu") on the beach, this seems to become an issue for Yuka...
