Warning: Spoilers
Roger Anderson (John Shrapnel) has his own haulage business and won a big contract. It goes awry when his van killed another driver in an accident.

Anderson is charged with careless driving and he refused to give a statement to the policeman at the scene of the accident.

An old friend of James Eliot, eventually both men are at loggerheads as to the best way to conduct Anderson's defence.

So Anderson turns to Harriet Peterson and throws a lot of money for his defence.

Meanwhile Sir John Gallagher has become a judge and so there needs to be a new head of chambers.

It was good to see John Shrapnel in an early role. I only became aware of him in the late 1980s in the Dennis Potter serial Blackeyes.

I did think the race for the new head of chambers was weakened as it introduced a character that was never seen before.

It is shocking to see that judges did not think Harriet would be a suitable head of chambers as she was a woman.

Just demonstrates how progressive the judiciary were back in the 1970s. It did not change much over the next few decades!
