Help!
Prismark1012 September 2021
Shown several weeks after Black Wednesday of September 1992 and the recession of the early 1990s.

I think viewers were not in the mood for the travails of the nouveau riche living life on the never never.

Martin Sweet (Ray Winstone) and Albert Sweet (Larry Lamb) has done well in the Thatcherite 1980s.

They started out from a council flat and taken the enterprise culture by the scruff of the neck.

In the opening episode, Martin finds that his overdraft and loans called in. He is now a bad risk.

There goes the Rolls Royce, his fancy mansion, daughters at private school and the holiday in Barbados.

He has to moved back to his dad's council flat. Albert is reluctant to help out. Martin is looking to get back on his feet.

There is a good cast here but the comedy is uncertain in the first episode. Winstone and Lamb previously played siblings in the ITV series Fox. A young Kate Winslet plays Martin's daughter.

Written by the normally reliable team of Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. The writing and humour might have the political edge but is not as sharp.
