****SPOILERS**** Unexpectedly mobster Willie Kane shows up at private investigator Mike Barnett's office to turn himself, with Barnett's help, in to the police. It's the fact that Willie's son Willie Jr who kept the secret that his dad is a hoodlum from the army will now be forced to go public in testifying against him that could get him thrown out of the Tri-State Military Academy where he's at the top of his class.
It's Willie's top man in the mob Augie who's planning to take over his operation when he goes to jail who's behind Willie Jr. going AWOL to make sure when his dad is behind bars he, by being kicked out of the military, won't be in any position to take control in the mob, who's members are very patriotic, dispersing both stool pigeons as well as military screw ups.. Hiding in a shack on the army firing range and disguising his face with shoe polish, to pass as an Afarican/American, Willie Jr is discovered by Barnett with Augie, who's been tracking him since day one, tailing along.
***SPOILERS*** Explosive final as the artillery opens up on the shack that Augie in a panic reversal's his reasons for being there to knock off Willie Jr as well as Barnett and take over Willie Kane's mob empire while he's behind bars. The trouble for Augie is that the US Military got there first and after a couple of blasts from 105 mm howitzers he chickened out and dropped his plans as well as pants using his solid white undies as a flag of surrender.
