Dogs on the Phone
boblipton31 October 2011
Well, it looks like Gary Cooper for about eight seconds, standing with the police chief and Eileen Sedgwick about the time Lightnin' comes back, having tracked the kidnappers and rushed back. He's tired, though, so Eileen tells the police that she will phone them later.

Later she is captured by the baddies and taken to the luxurious house in the suburbs, so Lightnin' phones the police. Yes he does, near as makes no difference. It's hard to tell at this distance, but this looks like it and its previous Lightnin' starrer may have been cut down from a serial. The Radio Pictures logo that closes it out suggests as much, since that would make it a descendant of FBO,, which did produce a lot of serials.

In any case, what we have here is a coherent story about how Lightnin' the Doberman saves girl agent Eileen Sedgwick and her rich boyfriend from the infamous webs of the Spider. Lightnin' has a few tricks, but likes to sit around with his tongue hanging out given the chance. It's not an awful piece, but it's not great by any means.
