Not Simply about a Flower
pgfreek6 February 2020
Path of the Daff seems, on the surface to be a simple story about a flower... but it's not. This is a beautifully rendered story filled with emotion about the impact to bombing at the Boston Marathon had on the city of Boston and the people who call Beantown home. The daffodill has become a symbol that connects a city that endoured a great tragedy and gives that city strength and hope to carry-on... to say "No, we will not be ruled by fear. We will persevere and come back stronger."

The story is so much bigger than just one flower. As the documentary unfolds you are swept into the journey one daffodil bulb takes. The view points are great with so many intertwined people sharing and showing how they are involved. From the agricultural educational component to the art experts, the story is told beautifully and seamlessly. A big congratulations to the director Michael Piscitelli for creating this heartwarming film.

Fantastic Movie! Takes you on a wonderful journey! Not only the illuminative and engaging physical journey of a special flower ,and the amazing people that make every step a reality, but also of the integrity, grit, and resilience of the community that this particular flower represents.

Daffodils: Who Knew?

Symbols can be tangible items that have important, powerful meaning to individuals or communities for various reasons. This documentary expertly introduces the viewer to Daffodils, and their relationship to the city of Boston. As we know, Boston experienced a most traumatic event in 2013 at the famed Boston Marathon.
Path of the Daff expertly illustrates the resiliency, strength and pride of the Boston 2013 survivors, local business owners and various residents and volunteers of all ages, while also honoring those that passed away that day.
This is a loving documentary directed with care. The same gentle care that was used in the Netherlands to grow and ship deliveries of the sturdy bulbs to Massachusetts; bulbs that would soon bloom into the beautiful yellow flowers that would eventually line the path of future marathons. "Boston Strong" indeed.
Emotional. Educational. Special. If you can, definitely give this film a watch. You won't regret it.

For us poor souls that are forced to live on the West Coast, this film was so mind opening. Boston is a city that is proud and strong and truly a community. I wouldn't have known that had I not seen this film. It's not just about a flower or a marathon. It's about life, hope, faith and humanity.
Watch this film!

Path of the Daff is an absolutely beautiful documentary about how a terrible event can bring out our most generous and human traits. We watch a community of people in Boston stand together to support each other in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings; and how something as simple as a daffodil became a surprising representation of our city's resiliency. As a Bostonian myself, I remember when the daffodils appeared in the city and lined the streets of the Back Bay. I felt moved by power they had to lift our spirits up. Now that I know the journey of these daffodils, having watched this film, I have a deeper appreciation of the people behind this project. Path of the Daff is funny, heartwarming, and beautiful to watch. It captures the essence of Boston and its people. Thank you to the film makers for sharing this with us. I love this documentary.
