Better than expected.

Warning: Spoilers
I ended up watching this against my initial gut feeling and was pleasantly suprised. Took me two days to watch it all and dont understand how anyone can say is is boring. The camera work is great and well thought through. You see enough to watch for clues but to little to know for sure. Is he real? Is he using tricks? I found myself constantly looking for indications for either interpretation and while I have an idea, or think I do, it could still go both ways. The acting is sufficient, even pretty good at times. I think all involved religions are treated ok and respectfully, but as an atheist I wouldnt be bothered if they wherent to be honest. Only thing that bothered me till the end was how nobody checked the water he supposedly walked on. Not one rational guy in the area to double-check? Otherwise this felt like a great start into the year 2020 TV wise.

Beautiful and Engaging!

In this short eight-part series, Rick Rotondi has given us an excellent condensed synopsis of Salvation History. We're taken on an amazing journey through Scripture showing how the coming of our Redeemer (Messiah) was foreshadowed and foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament, through His birth, death and resurrection in the New Testament. It's like following a golden thread being woven through a beautiful tapestry, starting with the Exodus and culminating with the fall of Rome. This would be a great series for a bible study, for RCIA classes or for anyone wanting to better understand Scripture and our Salvation through Jesus Christ, our Messiah. I am blessed and delighted to have been asked to be part of this series.

A Revelation
krisr10127 December 2019
Messiah is an amazing documentary for anyone who wants to be truly inspired while being educated. This series is a feast for the senses with its beautiful locations and its sonorous narrator. The best part of this series, though, is not its aesthetics: it is the acquisitions of a new level of understanding about faith. A must see!

season one: keeps you guessing
eyesore-870513 January 2020
Just when you think you have it figured out... things change.

It's a quality series that has me looking forward to next season.

Please just keep the same writers. Don't ruin this series with political correctness.

Boring, predictable, full of deep state conspiracies
katypnzvsky-442526 January 2020
It is full of banality and religious and "deep state" conspiracy stereotypes. Almost Alex Jones. It is not like I think that CIA are always right but I doubt they would be idiots that much. From the other site all those "Jesus" miracles are really cheesy in 21 century.

Much better than you think

We shouldn't be confused as to why critics and some viewers alike are panning this series, It makes them uncomfortable. Messiah is a scary uncomfortable ride that challenges ideologies to witness first hand how dependent, and fragile humanity is on organized religion. forces us to face the truth that organized religion is nothing more than politics wrapped around a deity. We see first hand how politico religious leaders manipulate and use violence. What scares the critics is clear, the story is headed down an uncomfortable path that may involve a negative plot aimed at Islam. Although the lead character seems altruistic clearly his agenda is borne out of the Middle East and aimed at targeting America as both villain and reluctant hero. We need to be patient and let the story unfold because I believe that although it appears that religious overtones are at the core of this series it is all slight of hand. The truth I will all bear out and we will see that the real is anything but religious. nothing more than socio political leftist ideology twist setting the stage for a new global order. The beauty of this show is just how uppity the critics are labelling it as boring, blah, blah. Boring is code word for please don't watch it. Religion is politics, and Whether you believe or not the central plot to this film has nothing to do with God and more to do with mix direction and weakness.

Fascinating and Indepth Bible review in just 4 hours!
goldenflowehoney5 January 2020
Cinematography is amazing! Filmed on locations, some rarely seen, make Messiah a most extraordinary production! The compilation of profound Biblical knowledge is interwoven with little known historical knowledge and presented in such a fluid manner, that the after effect, for me, has been like the multiplication of the loaves! I am unaware of any other Biblical documentary which provides the depth of insights presented with such clarity and beauty! A must see for your home library. The artwork and music are worth the view! Commentary by world renown Biblical scholars are expertly interwoven into this production.

Excellent!

This is a really good depiction of how Jesus would be treated if he were to reappear in 2020. But this is exactly what we need in 2020, in the time where there is so much conflict between east and west. It touches the sensitive relationship among Jews, Muslims, Christians and how all of this is power play. It is not a Jack Ryan show - if anyone expects that kind of thriller, they will be greatly dissapointed. This is an in-depth, thought provoking series that poses questions, makes one ponder, helps one understand the tremulous region a little better. Anyone who will give this a chance will benefit from watching this series. Kudos to the makers/producers - please make more of these coming. Pop-corn series like Jack Ryan is good -but this is 1000 times better.

One of the best balanced show - great fiction
simenmortensen9 January 2020
Saw the heading. Was thinking ok... I have time for a B rated thriller/ SyFY; with low expectations.. . BOY were I wrong! At level with GOT... only set to modern time.

One of the best balanced stories in a long time. Balance between CIA/law enforcement , the spiritual stuff, the human behavior (love and hate), greed and power etc. This had it all mixed so well.. very well made. One of the better fictional semi Scifi / thrillers set to current time I have ever seen
