Great opening episode

This is the definition of what an opening episode should be like. It picks up slightly later on but not too far on to feel disconnected, fills you in on whys happened since then. Isn't super intense or fast pace but neither is it just laying groundwork boringly.
The dynamic between Alice and kirito and the way people view them and the situation is done superbly well. You get more dragons (love that) and what they did with kirito was genius, really heart-wrenching but logical stuff.
You get an idea of how there is a bigger picture and wider world out there, it's very satisfying and makes things feel real the way the government is now being run.
Lots of mystery and suspense is still left, you're left waiting knowing kirito will rise yet again but at the same time you completely feel for the guy. All he's been through, all the confusion and sorrow he must feel from being trapped in multiple worlds for many years at this point. Losing Eugio now as well is hard but they don't let you forget him in this episode with clever hints to him which is nice.
The character development is some of the best in the series, even in just this episode you can see Alice' growth and overall the feel between the interactions of people seems far more relatable and immersive in comparison to the rest of the series.
Also a great ending song.

Worst season by a long shot

So boring...nothing happens. Then people with supernatural soul eating powers? Then the bad guys level 1s somehow manage to destroy an army of super high level players. Makes no sense how the bad guys get so godly powerful.
Nothing interesting done with the Ai at all. Alice comes into the real world only to try to seduce Kirito and literally nothing else. And There was so much room to expand on Ai in the real world and yet nothing happens instead..24 episodes of nothing. I liked it better when it was 10 epiosdes a season because things actually happened...This was garbage.
