Another episode that's ahead of its time.

Burglar Bert Morgan is arrested, Corder is called to assess him. Bert has a strange MO, he breaks into houses and does something very strange with the clocks.

Yet another interesting and intriguing episode, once again this show feels like it's well ahead of its time, so many ideas and themes that just weren't commonplace, it's as if someone on the writing team has insight into several decades on. Is Bert possibly dealing with a bit of OCD?

It's all been happening to poor Doctor Corder, he's been accused of sexual assault, now he's held at gun point, he really does get into some trouble. Herbert Lom is terrific here as always, what a remarkable actor. Great scene where Corder treats Bert, the pair chat about his tough childhood.

Some well known faces, Melvyn Hayes is definitely the star of the show, and he is great as Bert, it's a skilful performance. Warren Mitchell, Gerald James and the wonderful Fabia Drake all impress.

Quality episode.

8/10.

"If you want to get yourself off these days, don't get a lawyer, get a psychiatrist..."

Warning: Spoilers
Dr Roger Corder tries to help a clock-obsessed burglar, but the police don't give any credence to the idea of him needing help rather than punishment.

This is a pretty typical episode of this well-made series, with Dr Corder going well out of his way to help someone in trouble, in a society still bearing the scars of WWII, both physical (there are still bomb-sites everywhere) and mental. Melvyn Hayes plays someone who is slightly neurotic very well, and is just right in this role. Warren Mitchell has a small role too, and Sally Smith helps to provide a little light relief, playing Dr Corder's mischievous teenage daughter.

A small goof; the '1943 newspaper' is clearly a more contemporary one, containing advertisements for 'Plan Two' furniture amongst other things.

Overall this gets 7/10 from me.
