A balanced movie
omid-scientist25 April 2024
The most significant part of the movie is its unbelievable balance from different aspects. This great movie contains acceptable philosophy concepts, drama scenes, battles and etc. Also the movie beautifully stays between Iranian (Persian) and Turkish culture.

In addition, this masterpiece shows various moral and positive concepts which are definite parts of the story about those great humans. As an example this wonderful movie depicts anti war scenes and dialogues.

Furthermore, fascinating time jumps are a real art and a big plus point about this nice movie. Those time jumps make this biography and historical movies a nice drama one which is interesting for everyone.

Who are you? What are you?!
gilasiamovie25 April 2024
I have extensively researched and studied the narratives surrounding Molana and Shams, and I can attest that their story, and the love that emanates from it, is profoundly moving and inspiring. While the movie does not solely focus on their tale, it adeptly captures its essence.

"Intoxicated" prompts introspection about one's reality, touching upon various themes including love, politics, and warfare. It encourages viewers to question their identity, prompting a reevaluation of life to savor each moment. Furthermore, the film deepens one's appreciation for love's transformative power - a force capable of both igniting and extinguishing conflicts, and transcending divisions such as racism.

In summary, "Intoxicated" is a cinematic experience that has the potential to profoundly alter one's perspective on life. I highly recommend watching this film.

I didn't expect it to be that good
mrahnama-3506126 April 2024
This film has just been released in Iran, is directed by Hasan Fathi, and is based on the famous and true story of the friendship between Molan (Rumi) and Shams. Although I did not expect to watch a high-level movie, the more it passed, the more I got excited.

Actually, it started out a little boring because of too many flashbacks, but by the end, I was so satisfied. I want to count some positive points of this movie:

1. I believe it is actually a multicultural movie because the actors and actresses had been chosen from two nationalities, Turkey and Iran. Also, because Rumi's character in Turkey and even throughout the world is as important and well-known as in Iran, it can be a movie for extended audiences.

2. This movie could reflect Rumi's age well. And it was successful in representing the changes that Rumi had experienced during his friendship with Shams.

3. One of the most interesting things was that, although the movie was about Rumi's life, it was difficult to recognize the leading actor or actress from the supporting one, even until the end, because the director could use other actors and actresses, as well as Parsa Pirouzfar (Rumi) and Shahab Hosseini (Shams).

4. The music, the special effects, the costume designing, the set design, the cinematography, the making-up and so on were the other positive points of this movie. But if I were the screenwriter I would write a little differently.

5. This movie, in my opinion, was able to show Rumi's message and I think it could be attractive to many people in Iran and even in the world. Because Rumi's message is not limited to his age and geography. And also, I believe that it could attract the latest generations to Iran's medieval history.

6. After all, I believe this movie can be counted as a turning point in the history of historical movies that have been made in Iran.

Congrats Hande Ercel and the whole team for their great talent and hard work, and for the great success of the film.

The film MestiAsk has break record, has attracted more than 50,000 viewers on its first day and grossed more than 3.5 billion tombs, achieved great success by breaking the first day sales record in Iran.

Many Iranians who have seen MestiAsk praise among other things about the film such as the great performances, the great production and the great soundtrack, the wonderful performance of Hande Ercel who brings Kimya to life and conveys and makes you feel everything she feels, and being very saddening the end of her character, and congratulate Hande Ercel and the whole team for their great talent and hard work, and for the great success of the film.

Fantastic story full of meaning
alirezastr-2049216 May 2024
This movie was one of the most awaited and controversial movies of Iranian cinema that I was waiting for, a philosophical and mystical story that at the same time deals with war and its consequences, and also deals with a love story. .... A complete and amazing movie, especially with the beautiful acting of Shahab Hosseini and Ibrahim Celikkol .

The point that exists is that besides being one of the great Iranian mystics, Rumi and Shams are also among the great poets of Iran. I think their poems should have been used more as a dialogue.

This movie had the ability to be made at least as a mini-series, pay attention, I say at least, because the story has the capacity of a long series, and I don't know why it was not made as a series.

In general, the editing work was good, the jumps to the past and present were well done.

The Farsi dubbing and dubbing of the Turkish actors was poorly done.

All in all, it was a great movie of Iranian and Turkish cinema. I definitely suggest you see it.

And finally, for a better understanding of Shams and Rumi's life, I suggest reading the book The Forty Rules of Love written by Elif safak.

It was just a tiny part of an enormous Iranians talent
Iran is the most magnificent historical and cultural country in the world with so many great and talented artists, scientists, poets and mystics and those who left great works from literature to epiphany of some books like Shahnameh and Masnavi Poem by Rumi that in this film they showed some awesome parts of it so these works are from powerful past centuries and millennia. And with all this discrimination and restriction of the government of Iran at the present time we are glad that we can see Iran shine in cinema and other fields. We are so excited to seeing art of Iran again in the the international scenes. Thank to all actors and directors to create the film.

A story with high potential but...
hosseinniknami25 April 2024
The story of Shams and Rumi is a wonderful story, and having the courage to make this film is commendable. The movie and its story and actors had great potential, but I think they could not place it well in the form of a movie. Maybe it could have been successful in the form of mini-series. The film had a list of well-known and good actors , whose acting skills were unfortunately not used enough, and the characterization of the characters was not well formed, and the presence of some actors was only for decoration and they did not have any special dialogue during the film, I wishit was a mini-series with 6 episodes. But I enjoyed watching it and I don't regret it, but it could have been much better.

Worst Possible
spacecodr24 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For anyone who reads the works of rumi and words of Shams Tabrizi The word "Love" represents a deep mystical and metaphysical meaning

And the historical background between these two masters had a very exciting story with a lot of moral and spiritual lessons involved

BUT THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't even touch the most basic levels of what these masters had to say during their lifetimes

It's mainly focused on some other non related stories around the main stuff

And it's obvious that the writers and the director didn't have any kind of research on what Sufism actually is

Very disappointed.

A true piece of art!
shervinshadplus14 May 2024
The continuous applause from the audience in the theater at the end of the movie clearly indicates how successfully it has delivered its very spiritual message .

The rhythm of the suspicious story telling at the beginning parts of the film ,takes your thoughts and estimation far away from the actual roles of the main characters, that's considered as an achievement of the director that can playfully leave you with mixed feelings towards the characters and their actual intentions through out the flash backs within the scenses..

My congratulations to the whole team for this amazingly done performance.

wasted potential
hnkn-3949924 April 2024
Following numerous controversies, this much-anticipated film finally hit theaters. With a narrative centered on two significant Iranian historical figures and poets, Molana "Rumi" and his mentor Shams, the storyline held immense promise. However, the execution falls short of expectations. The movie suffers from a confused and inconsistent plot structure, frequently jumping back and forth between various points in the story. Moreover, it tends to focus more on peripheral side stories rather than delving deep into the core narrative. As a result, what could have been an epic Iranian historical biography movie is instead reminiscent of a Turkish romance drama. The film fails to fully capture the essence and significance of its central characters and their historical context. Despite its potential, it ultimately disappoints, leaving viewers wishing for a more cohesive and impactful cinematic experience.

All that censorship ruined a potentially good movie
hannadirectionerlol30 April 2024
We've been waiting for the release for years. But as iran's ershad wouldn't allow it to be released. So they had to keep changing and changing ao much that the literal MAIN CHARACTERS had the least screen time. There was barely any shams and mawlana interaction, the side characters that were barely important took up the whole movie. The main factors of their relationship -dancing, playing the daf, getting drunk and praying together- none of it was there. Instead there was WAR. So much war that didn't matter! No trace of the real love and devotion they actually had Such a waste. Parsa and Shahab are fantastic actors.

For Mr. Fathi and the respected production team of Maste eshgh movie
hadisnazarihaami30 April 2024
Sal ha del talabe jame Jam az ma mikard, anche khod dasht ze bigane tamanna mikard.

I have no doubt about your innate talent, precision, finesse, and capability as a professional director in Iranian cinema.

For years, each of us has experienced a gateway to knowledge and culture through your magnificent works.

As a human, however, I recognized a different kind of love and meaning within the essence of Rumi and Shams before encountering your masterpiece-a deeper love, a more passionate love, a more insightful love than what I thought I had experienced through the lens of your camera.

The film's actors were talented, and the team was capable, but what becomes of such abundant talent when an eighty-minute opus feels more like an incomplete trailer? I felt like everything had been taken from your film, so heavily censored that nothing remained.

WHAT GENRE?
monokchian10 May 2024
It is an interesting film about the life of two philosophers and the story of their acquaintance with each other. And compared to many Iranian films, it tells a beautiful story that is very well made.

If we look at the movie as a drama and romance genre, and considering that it is mentioned in the beginning of the movie, "a free take from history", the movie has been able to guide the story well towards the love story of two couples.

BUT if we look at the film as a historical and informative film about the life of two mystics and philosophers, the film has not fulfilled its mission to pay its respects to these two mystics, and it is more of a romantic drama in the Turkish style than a historical film.

Poor delivery
areflj12 May 2024
The directing, editing, and acting failed to deliver the bare minimum. It could've been an epic historical biography. The story had so much potential and now I hope someone else makes another movie based on the same story and just do it better. It's a shame to see such a poorly made movie represent such a great story. And don't get me wrong, by "poorly made" I don't mean it was low-budget, in fact there was a more than necessary amount of money spent on it, which make it at least pleasing to the eye and nothing more. Also, I heard that it was supposed to be series but they turned to a movie which makes total sense since to me it was more of poor montage than an actual movie.

Where is Iranian womans??
birianahal1 May 2024
Were is Iranian womans?

Why can't we act in these films with a free veil? Do you see an Iranian woman in this film?

Who care about this??

Did anyone pay attention to this issue?

We live a strange life There are so many Iranian actresses that you will be excited to see their art But it's a pity that no one pays attention to these clever but big issues We are trapped in a cage Our lives are in danger.

I only wish that one day no girl will suffer such physical and work trauma for her gender In all these moments when we are fighting for freedom, I wish the world would wake up and support us a little In hope ((((life, women, freedom))))

The movie explores everything but love
iliadiris4 May 2024
It was a well-written movie with an aesthetically pleasing cinematography. Different stories came together nicely at the end.

But, where was Rumi and Sham's story?

Instead of being the bane of the movie, they were treated as a subplot with less than twenty minutes of screen time together. Intoxicated by Love is their story, about how the love between them was so deep and pure that the tale of it still remains an essential part of Persian and Turkish literature history.

We were offered almost nothing about the forty days they spent away from the rest of the world together, about how their friendship changed both their lives, about Rumi's great love and admiration for Shams.

I truly think they attended so much to the plot they forgot the ingredient that made these two unique: their unconditional attachment to eachother and how it was made.

6.5/10.
