This is not the feature length low-budgeter that I absolutely despise. The Butcher was a very interesting film mainly because we've all heard the story as either an urban legend or a myth, but as far as I know I don't think anybody actually brought it to film. The premises is that a young girl is trying to escape from a mad man who dismembers and disembowels his victims to use has meat at his butcher shop. The physical performance of this film was amazing but as far as the spoken performance, it wasn't that good. However, as far as the technical aspects of this film, they were amazing. Though for a short film, this was pretty good for what it was.

I commented a bit on the acting but to comment further, I think that this film effectively portrays physical performance without any words as best as I can find. However, there is a balance of good acting and bad acting and for the first point of which the acting was pretty bad would be when the girl was running down the hallway. As far as the spoken performances, it was very weak and seemed as if the actors were trying not to laugh while they were doing their part. But, I do think that a huge part as to why there performance seemed bad would be the audio levels. At the end, I had to drastically raise the volume to listen to what was being said.

The cinematography as well as the editing in this film was amazing an I think that all the technicalities of this movie was the main reason why I continued to view it. With a careful balance of light and darkness, mostly darkness, this film captures the very essence of being trapped in the darkness. I think that the best shots that were established in the movie would be at the beginning when there were swooping angles. This movie also had some great editing skills.

Overall, this was a fun film, certainly not the best horror short that I have seen but it really good job brining this worn out story to a short film. I would recommend this film to those who enjoy low-budget short film lovers, and for those who enjoy theatrical and long versions of horror would also love it. It's only 8 minutes and for that long, you can handle a fun little horror movie. I certainly did.
