Christmas specials are hard to get right, it's even harder to find something new to say, especially in a domestic family sitcom.
Credit it then to the writers of 'After You've Gone', a painfully short-lived British sitcom, that manages to do both things brilliantly.
There's some lovely moments here, from the failed office Christmas party to the battle of the Christmas tree. By now Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie have settled into their roles and the dynamic between them is great.
Ryan Sampson as ever steals every scene he's in, as the wonderfully laid back Alex.
I enjoyed this show upon air date, and revisit it via DVD every Christmas.
