If you liked Tunnel (2017), you'll like this one as well.
whackcar17 September 2020
The base concept is different. In tunnel it's about time travel, while in Train, it's about traveling between alternate realities. Even so, there are numerous similarities, which you'll recognize if you watch both shows.

Overall, it's a mysterious show that stays interesting throughout.

Just Stick With It
aggiemanalac28 August 2022
I must admit that I was confused during the first five or so episodes but was intrigued enough to stay with it.

I am happy I did because the story began to unravel and make sense after that. Much suspension of disbelief is required but then again, this is a sci fi/fantasy show so a lot of creative license was used.

Actors turned in good performances. I last saw the female lead as half of the second couple in Weightlifting Kim Bok-joo. Male lead in this show was very convincing as good cop/bad cop. This show is recommendable to those who love suspense, crime, whodunnit shows.

12 episodes were well-utilized. The team thought well enough not to force 16 episodes out if this.

Addictive Thriller
fake_moviestar17 August 2020
This was one of the first KDrama's I have watched while it aired, and let me just say that every episode kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was SO disappointed having to wait each week for the next two episodes! Yoon Shi Yoon is quickly becoming a favorite actor of mine; he has quite the range and this really showed when playing the two different versions of the Seo Do Won. He had a similar acting experience in "Your Honor," where he played twin brothers, but this show and these characters were much better in my opinion. The plot is complex but well paced and understandable, and much better done than "The King: Eternal Monarch" which had a similar premise but was executed in a much more confusing manner. This is also one of the first KDrama's that I have watched that hints at/needs a second season - very badly! Overall this was a very enjoyable watch with great acting, well developed characters, and an addictive plot.

Holy shit how is this drama so underrated?? It has a fantastic script, characters, actors, soundtrack, filming etc. I really enjoyed this. It's probably one of my favourite sci-fi/crime kdramas. Excellent acting form Yoon Siyoon also. Wooowwwwww. Don't give this one a miss. That's all I can say.

Way Better than Signal and Tunnel or Eternal King
brockalexander13 August 2020
I really enjoyed this series, the acting and script is first rate... I have enjoyed all the time travel Korean shows but this one is the best, maybe cause it's 12 episodes only... The lead actors are superb and I have watched now about 25 plus Korean dramas and this us definitely near the top with Mr Sunshine, Misaeng, Heachi and Stranger. Definitely recommended this series

Scintillating
ypalsingh27 July 2020
Not kidding i don't want this drama to end. Oh my god, i have watched like 50 korean dramas, in fact, more. The direction is fine but the story really is the hero. The actor in the lead role does it so well. It is a treat to watch it.

Best Thriller show I've watched
lolimani1 October 2021
I am surprised this is not popular. I was looking for a psychological thriller after I've watched abyss, I enjoyed abyss. But I've stumbled across this one and it is AMAZING.

Yoon shi yoon (Do won in the show) is an amazing actor!!

I recommend watching it 100%!!!!

A Gem in it's Genre
thamarawijeratne3 August 2020
Don't call yourself a thriller, sci-fi fan if you haven't watched this drama, and even if you are not, this is one drama that is just too good to be missed out. THE STORY!!! kudos!!!, a hundred no, a thousand time to you writer! this is one hell of a story-line, it's just too perfect, I've been trying to find at least a single flaw, the tiniest plot hole, but this drama no matter what deserves my ten and despite being neither humorous nor romantic, it's amazing how it keeps us hooked so well and made me re watch so many times. And of course the acting is just as amazing, Shi yoonie oppa is daebak, it's my first time seeing Soo jin unnie as a main lead and she is thriving in it! This drama is fantastic in every way I see it, the plot, acting, direction, cinematography, CGI, the editing, action scenes, OST and even the bgm is really good. I'm really impressed by the harmony of all this cinematic elements, it's amazing how a fantasy/sci-fi drama could make so much sense and be so realistic and sensible. Parallel universes theory was not new to 2020 since The King ; eternal monarch embraced us. While that fantasy remained as a fantasy from beginning to the end, Train is more acceptable as a parallel universe since it gives us why and how the two similar worlds with the same people ended up having different fates, because of the momentary decisions you end up taking on spur of the moment, that you think is of not much importance, like helping a blind man cross the road. It tells us that we are the fate.

Pretty unique and neat story line, but the unwanted stretching looses the appeal.
gargsharsh1 December 2021
This is a nice concept and even the execution of the sereies is also done nicely but it has been streached to its limits.. if you cut out all the repeated flash backs and overlapping episodes end and start, the series and story will end in 5 episodes max. This unwanted streaching is giving up the thriller and twist elements of the series at the end after dedicating your 12 hours to this series you still feel unsatisfied with it.

Train just Goes on Without a STOP!
akshaypc2317 May 2021
Firstly this series keeps on giving thrills till the end with mystery. The plot twirls till the last episode which gives more expectation for simply exciting the viewer. One of the Cons of the series is the emotional part all the character must cry atleast one time which is very disturbing. Most of all with new concept collaborated with Korean main market if Killer gives an additional force to the pace of the series.

Unexpectedly Nice
xmasinswiss28 December 2023
I didn't expect to like this series at all, but decided to watch it as it has the same lead actor as "Psychopath Diary". I wasn't disappointed and found this show entertaining.

This show has a relatively unique plot (similar to "Tunnel" or "Signal" but this time across universes). Unlike the American "Fringe" which also deals with multiple universes, this series stays very human and character-driven, and doesn't go off into a technical apocalyptic dystopia like so many US shows.

The lead character cast is strong and their performances are outstanding.

I like how they made the point of little decisions, when accumulated, leading us on vastly different life paths.

The show does suffer from a few unfortunate tropes though:

  • Endless flashback to literally the same memories, and overlapping episode endings/beginnings. I found myself becoming good friends with the "skip" button. There's probably a few episodes worth of literally 100% repeated footage.

  • The standard thriller tricks of a character going to explore abandoned buildings at night, in the dark, after learning that the armed criminal is there, without telling anyone where they're going or asking for backup. This cliche appears so much because that's what normal humans apparently do, right?

  • A bit over-dramatic for my tastes at times. These endless hard stares, criminals monologuing for minutes on end before pressing the trigger, protagonists turning their backs on wounded enemies to cry and hug so the enemies could attack them again or escape, statements full of pathos, it's all here.

Overall, an excellent experience which could have been made much tighter by eliminating 90% of repetitions.

Wow ... from Beginning to end I was hooked.
pycjarps1 December 2020
Storyline was so good the right amount of thrill, suspense, drama, thriller and supernatural-parallel world? Yoon ShiYoon acting was superb and the cast all out acting were top-notch. What can I say... Yoon ShiYoon ... on top of this he got featured as the #1 Most Handsome Korean Actor according to KPopmap Readers - November 2020. Can't wait for his next drama.

Pretty good despite being overly dramatic
Glue2Screen28 October 2022
I enjoyed this series more than I expected. The plot is gripping from start to finish. I was constantly wondering what will happen next. Of all the Korean dramas I've watched, able to maintain an atmosphere of suspense with an intricate and interesting plot is rare. Most series seem to lose its suspense or begin to drag on with inconsist story progression or stupid character decision. Train surpringly managed to overcome some of these elements and keep its pace. Though some of the scenerios are very dramatic and is melodramatic, but the mysterious atmosphere kept me glued to the screen.

Overall really enjoyed it as it is very thrilling.

Fantastic series
Jaxluvstelly5 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't write many reviews, but I really had to do this one. I really loved this series, I loved the whole premise, and I loved the characters too. I had to binge watch this as I couldn't tear myself away.

I love the idea of travelling between parallel dimensions and the twists and turns right up until the end, so you can't work out what's going to happen. You think you can, but you can't, and you don't And it makes all the more intriguing.

I felt that I could relate to the characters, and I only wanted the best for them. I found myself really caring about them. Some shows you couldn't care less, but these characters really pulled you. Yoon Shi-yoon is now my favourite actor and I need to see more of him.

I don't know if they will ever make another series because I'm writing this in 2023 in this first aired in 2020. It would be wonderful if they would but if not I'm looking to find something very similar...

Dark and stranger things!
mrsrr-7277616 August 2023
Dunno what the other reviewers on here have been watching - but it certainly wasn't this!

Clear attempts to duplicate several elements in the two shows mentioned above, eg soundtrack, lighting and angst of main characters (including unexplained limping cop in place of unexplained one eyed one); absurd plot lines - even allowing for it being sci-fi - some so ridiculous as to be laugh out loud funny (limping cop chasing down the baddie springs - or should that be limps - to mind); serious over-acting by the main character, apart from when he was being completely wooden; and sooooooo sssslllloooooowwww in developing the story, the continual flashbacks were so confusing - which one is he, is that the present or the past, is it this place or the other one......

I'm just finished ep.3 and I'd give up now if it wasn't for hubby tbh. The ironing's looking pretty tempting - and I never iron! That said, if it does improve, I'll leave another review.

Superb Korean Time-Slip Thriller
AJ_McAninch23 August 2020
Humans love trains, and we also love them as symbols in our films and novels. This is a lovely romance wrapped in a time-slip murder mystery. Terrific screen play, direction, and cast. Only 12 eps, it's a good intro to mature k-drama or one to add to the fan's list of great ones. All the actors are excellent, and the lead, Yoon Shi Yoon, who has to slip in and out of time and identity, is amazing. My best rec is always, would I watch it again: this one definitely. Strongly recommended.

Genre is similar to Dark( english series)
nandhakishore3113 December 2020
A series which is about serial killing. And it is similar to dark and they just made everything correct . they just avoided physics. relations so it is entertaining.

and there is plot holes in the end . but the scripts overshones everything.

Thomas the Time Engine
Park_Min7 February 2024
First impressions are important and this one didn't have a good one. The drama really needed a better introduction for what they had, the first episode was just plain bad and it didn't serve its purpose. While I appreciate the shorter runtime of 12 episodes that OCN usually offers with their thrillers but even in this case some scenes and episodes were redundant. It didn't help its case repeating that one specific flashback of the night when male lead met Seo Kyung and lost his father about 20-30 times throughout the drama. The story had its usual plot holes just like most thriller/mystery of its kind but at least there wasn't anything outrageous. One more thing, it felt like it was the type of show that would benefit greatly from a custom made good OST.
