Good Trans Representation

This definitely does not deserve a 4.8/10. I'm just gonna assume some transphobes review bombed this film. The cinematography is solid, the performances are decent, and the use of sound is great. Is it a Scorsese masterpiece? No, but I didn't expect it to be. It's a pretty solid film overall, and most importantly it's great representation for the trans community. The examples of dysphoria are accurate and the emotional brevity shown through silence and solemn glances is very well done.

Emotional

It is often difficult to encapsulate the moments in a person's life where there is no spotlight, and where there is only the lived sequence of suffering, discomfort, and struggles that seem to be endless while in the midst of it all. The film does a wonderful job of generating even a fraction of that tension, uncertainty, and general anxiety so that by the end of the film there is a legitimate wellspring of emotion tied to the final scene.

I appreciate the effort taken to highlight the quiet moments in people's lives, and the attempt to bring trans people's existences to the same backgrounds as everyone else's-- most of us do not have extraordinary lives, and the belief that we do is sensationalism to serve anti-trans propaganda.
