on Jr.NTRs' shoulders
nagam-prasad16 May 2008
Mehar Ramesh probably learnt a few tricks of the trade in his earlier years and he uses them quite efficiently in making this movie but he misses a couple of things in the process – the story and the screenplay.

In the flash back, Potha Raju (PR-Prakash Raj) and Seshu (Ashish Vidyarthi) kill and rob their employer and decide to live-off the money elsewhere. PR's wife along with their infant son refuses to go with him.

Cut to the present, Seshu oversees the PR empire's local operations (promoting counterfeit currency for one), while PR has a similar flourishing business in Hong Kong. In one such shady deals – a local lad Kranthi ( a la Kantri)(Jr.NTR) intervenes and impresses Seshu by saving them a massive amount of counterfeit money.

Kranthi becomes their team member and his swift rise within a short span of time impresses the boss PR too. But when the 'company' does not come to his rescue, in his time of need to rescue one of his mates at the orphanage he decides to start his own venture competing with PR enterprise. His first deal or contract is to bump PR off for a good sum (genuine, of course). An enraged PR personally comes down to India to finish off Kantri only to realize that Kranthi is his own son, which is quite a twist for the first half of the movie.

In the second half, PR has nothing much to do except swooning whenever he is a little tense, while Seshu is busy trying to get his daughter (Tanisha) married to Kantri who is already committed to Varalakshmi (Hansika). As you wonder what is making you watch the movie till its end, the director comes with a saving grace in the form of a little twist in the end too.

Aswini dutt who has built up a very good reputation for his banner should in future be more careful in choosing the product rather than the mere packaging. Mani Sharma as usual has come up with some superb musical treats.

Except for Jr.NTR with his new impressive make over and his exceptional performances in song, dance & fight sequences, this movie can be very strongly recommended for only die-hard Jr.NTR fans.

Oh! Here comes slimmed sensation!!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
First things first, this movie is the usual Mass-Masala fare you see in telugu. But what is the difference is there any? Fortunately Yes!!!!! The movie is technically Brilliant and N.T.R has given his soul out for the movie which didn't need it.The screenplay is meager,Direction okayish. But the dialogues are so good that you would think again and again if it is Trivikram who has written this. But Director has at least made that thing well. Coming to plot Kranthi(N.T.R) is a Orphan with the heart of gold who works for P.R(Prakash Raj) and does more than petty things for him.As the story progresses its revealed that Kranthi is none other than son of P.R which reminds you of the movie Munna. Then Kranthi after many Scenes agrees P.R has his dad(Reasons best known to him)even though the ending twist justifies little bit of his thoughts not entirely though.Entire love track between N.T.R and Hansika is completely Nonsense and the luck thing of heroine is directly lifted from Hollywood flick 'Just My Luck'even though the ending twist is lifted from 'Bluffmaster.Tanisha is simply there for a song and few meaningless scenes.Music is excellent and even the Background score is good. If you watch the Movie in big screen its visually appealing But not at all a must watch.

Best movie of the summer

This is totally my opinion, but out of Jalsa, Parugu, Kantri, and Bujjigaadu, I liked Kantri a lot and I will explain what I liked and didn't like in the film.

What I liked:

1.) NTR - In "Yamadonga", he didn't look good with the long hair and slim body. But after this film, short hair and slim body makes him look best. Also, his dressing style is kinda cool, even though it kinda looks borrowed from Pokiri.

2.) Dialgoues - I guess Meher Ramesh learned a lot from his guru Puri Jagannadh. There a lot of good one-liners.

3.) Comedy - When I watch a commercial movie, I expect to be entertained and what not a better way than laughing? Sunil is alright as the dance instructor but his getup as Gundu Boss was hilarious. Krishna Bhagwan was also funny as tour guide in Singapore.

4.) Twist - There is a big twist in the climax, which I can't tell, but it brings the end of the second half back on track.

What I didn't like:

1.) Heroines - Telugu people should really start choosing Telugu speaking girls, instead of North Indian tramps. (Sorry, no offense)

2.) Second Half - After a fun first half, the second half slowly slides and drags.

Overall, I give this movie an 8/10
