Being from the Midwest myself (and even facing tornado warnings in the past few weeks), it seems that the severe storms will be hitting no matter what as the spiritual sequel to Twister touches down in theaters this July. This year has seen some crazy tornadic activity for states like Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. However, Lee Issac Chung’s Twisters is taking them to a whole new level. Universal Pictures has just released the new three-minute trailer for the summer thrill ride, looking to outdo any of the cyclones that Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt encountered in the 1996 original. This time Daisy Edgar-Jones partners up with the “Tornado Wrangler,” played by Glen Powell.
The official synopsis reads, “Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City.

Everyone knows Mila Kunis as a brilliant comedy performer, because her name is strongly associated with such sitcoms, as That '70s Show with her role of the hilarious Jackie Burkhart and Family Guy, where she voices Meg, the eldest child of the Griffins.
After the actress’ roles in Friends with Benefits (2011), Ted (2012) and Bad Moms (2016), which are all comedies, it’s hard to imagine her in a dramatical setting. However, she totally breaks the canon with the 2020 shocking movie, now climbing Netflix’s top.
The film’s plot revolves around Kunis’ Molly, a 31-year-old drug addict on her 15th attempt at sobriety. It may sound really desperate, but this time she’s really willing to stop using heroin, and she’s trying to convince not only the audience, but her own estranged mother Deb (played by the accomplished Glenn Close) of that.

Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) and Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) as opposing forces who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes. Twisters got some major love during Universal’s presentation at CinemaCon, with the audience getting to see an extended preview of the movie.
The extended preview starts off at a rodeo, which is disrupted by a giant tornado as bulls and horses run wild amidst the chaos. We see scenes of Powell’s character as assembles a group of storm chasers as two tornados combine to form a super tornado. “It’s alright to be scared… fear is the reason you do it,” Powell’s character says. “You don’t face your fears, you ride them.” Our own Chris Bumbray said that the new footage looks huge with tons of stuff happening, but he added that it looks...

In what is no surprise, Warner Bros Motion Picture Group is getting into business with its Dune and Wonka star Timothée Chalamet, and has hammered a multi-year first look feature film deal with the Oscar nominee as actor and producer.
Between the Dune movies and Wonka, Chalamet’s recent pics with the Burbank, CA lot have delivered $1.6 billion to studio coffers. Chalamet became the first actor in over four decades to star in the top two domestic-grossing films released in an 8-month period.
The latest talent deal is one of many hammered out by Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-Chairs and CEOs, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, as they set their future slate at the studio. Since being announced for the top studio job at Warner Bros back in June 2022, the duo have made deals with Tom Cruise, Jon M. Chu, and T Street’s Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman.

Timothée Chalamet has played many different types of characters throughout his career. From playing nobility to a warrior, a lovesick teenage boy, and a cannibal, his versatility as an actor is commendable, to say the least. Although he has worn many different faces, there is one thing that stays constant through all his characters; their physique.

There are few stars of his age who generate as much foaming at the mouth celebrity obsession as Timothée Chalamet. Ever since the one-two punch of “Lady Bird” and “Call Me By Your Name” arrived in 2017, the young actor has been the darling of social media fan accounts fawning over his signature long black hair and delicate, porcelain features. It’s made him the archetypal onscreen heartthrob of his generation and garnered him those pesky Leonardo DiCaprio comparisons that have lingered over the course of his career.
Does that online thirst translate into being a movie star? That’s a question that various outlets have tried to unpack over the course of Chalamet’s career with varying degrees of success. Timothee Chalamet has quickly emerged as one of the more unique Hollywood leading men in recent years. With his lanky frame, brooding vigor and deeply felt sensitivity, the young man has become one of the most notable stars of his generation. His career began in TV movies and series, with recurring roles on such shows as “Homeland” and “Royal Pains.” He made his film debut in the Jason Reitman film “Men, Women & Children,” in a relatively minor part. Those smaller roles continued through 2016 in films like “Interstellar” and “The Adderall Diaries,” playing younger versions of principal characters.
While Chalamet had a handful of substantial roles in indie movies, like 2016’s “Miss Julie,” everything changed the following year with the release of “Call Me by Your Name.” The actor’s sensitive portrayal of a 17-year-old finding his first great love garnered universal praise and landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Now that the BAFTA, Critics Choice, Golden Globe, and SAG Award nominations have all been announced, it’s time to take a closer look at what they all mean. Seven lead and six supporting performers reaped bids will all four of these precursor prizes (scroll down to see who’s on that list), but can they all count on hearing their names called when the Oscar nominations are unveiled on January 23?
Since the Critics Choice Awards joined the other three precursors in publicizing official nominations in 2002, there have been 11 instances when someone nominated across the board did not go on to contend at the Oscars. Given the lack of precedent for such an occurrence until 2012, the current hopefuls are unfortunately saddled with the implications of the adjusted average of about one case per year.

Paul Giamatti will be hoping to use the Golden Globes to press forward with his claims for a first Oscar nomination since his 2006 Best Supporting Actor bid for “Cinderella Man.” He stars this year in “The Holdovers,” which could lead him to a Best Actor nomination and has cemented him as the favorite to win Best Comedy/Musical Actor at the upcoming Golden Globes.

Christmas box office isn’t what it used to be. Before the year’s end, we’ll see eight new wide releases but none are likely to reach the heights of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($805 million domestic) or 2022 “Avatar: The Way of Water” ($685 million).
The musical “The Color Purple” (Warner Bros.), Sony’s romance “Anyone but You,” Universal’s animated “Migration,” and Amazon MGM’s “The Boys in the Boat” could rise to decent levels. “Migration” is projected to be the next highest grosser, with “Anyone” a sleeper. There’s also A24’s “The Iron Claw” and Neon’s “Ferrari.”
However, Warner Bros. has two films on which theaters pin their highest hopes: “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” — and most of all, “Wonka.” It’s the third Warners feature based on the Willy Wonka character, but with previous iterations separated by decades it’s never been a franchise.

Timothée Chalamet was quoted in a recent interview with People magazine saying that his upcoming musical “Wonka” is his mother’s favorite Timothée Chalamet movie. It turns out that’s not the case. Appearing on “Good Morning America,” the Oscar-nominated actor revealed his mom, Nicole Flender, actually called him after the People interview ran in order to correct him.
“I thought this was her favorite movie. She called me yesterday, she corrected me. She said ‘Beautiful Boy’ was her favorite,” Chalamet said. “When she saw [‘Wonka’], she did say, ‘It’s nice to see you smile.'”
Chalamet originally told People that “Wonka” is “maybe her favorite thing I’ve ever been in,” adding at the time: “I think she saw ‘Bones and All’ and said, ‘You gotta be happier in your movies!’ But this is the tradition. I come from a musical theater family, and this is more in...

Classic rock is so pervasive that it influenced artists who don’t make rock music in any way, shape, or form. John Lennon’s songs generally weren’t as sentimental as Celine Dion’s. However, one of John’s later tracks is so emotional that it works in Dion’s hands. Her version did significantly better in the United States than the original.
John Lennon wrote 1 of his songs for his son, Sean Ono Lennon
Dion and John might appear to be polar opposites as artists. Regardless, John was a balladeer at times. His last album, Double Fantasy, includes the ballad “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy).” Dion later covered the tune during the early 2000s.

After making a name for himself in HBO’s “Euphoria,”Australian import Jacob Elordi is on the cusp of movie stardom thanks to contrasting performances in a pair of Oscar contenders. He features as Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola‘s biopic “Priscilla” and steals scenes in Emerald Fennell‘s psychological thriller “Saltburn.”
“Saltburn,” from Amazon, follows Barry Keoghan‘s Oliver Quick — an Oxford University student who soon becomes enticed and obsessed with his classmate Felix Catton, played by Elordi. Soon enough, Oliver goes to stay with Felix at Saltburn, the Catton family manor house. It’s in these scenes that Elordi excels but the star is a hit as soon as you first hear him speak as he nails the posh accent with aplomb. His performance develops throughout the film as Felix turns from charming and aloof to sulky and petulant but also generous and genuine. It’s a great role for Elordi,...

Just before he reaches the age of 28, Timothée Chalamet will very likely achieve his third Golden Globe (and first Best Comedy/Musical Actor) nomination for “Wonka.” Following his previous bids for “Call Me By Your Name” and “Beautiful Boy”, this notice would make him the youngest man to have ever vied for all three possible film Golden Globes, smashing a record set by 35-year-old James Caan in 1976. He would also make history due to the fact that he would be the third actor recognized by this organization for playing Willy Wonka, thus putting the fictional chocolatier on a very short list of film characters that have inspired at least three Golden Globe nominations.
Directed and co-written by Paul King (“Paddington”), “Wonka” serves as an origin story for its title character, who was first introduced in the 1964 Roald Dahl book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Chalamet puts a relatively youthful spin...

Elvis Costello produced several songs for Paul McCartney, which isn’t surprising, as Paul worked with stars as eclectic as Michael Jackson, The Beach Boys, and the Everly Brothers. While discussing Paul’s musicianship, Costello opined The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” challenged fans’ conceptions of Paul. He also said The Beatles’ “Julia” challenged fans’ conception of John Lennon.
Elvis Costello saw a throughline between The Beatles’ ‘Helter Skelter’ and ‘She’s a Woman’
Costello produced four songs from Paul’s 1989 album, Flowers in the Dirt. A 2017 article from The Washington Post says a narrative formed around the collaboration. Supposedly, Costello — a famous punk musician — would be like John Lennon and push Paul, the balladeer, into different territory. Costello contested this narrative.
“Oh, Paul’s the ballad guy, the same guy who sang ‘I’m Down,’ ‘She’s a Woman,’ and ‘Helter Skelter,'” he said. “You can find a contrary thing...

The new film No One Will Save You has quite a unique title and a captivating concept to back it up as well. Revolving around Brynn Adams, the quiet young adult in the movie, the film surprises us after turning into an alien invasion plot. The film, which at first seems to be about Brynn’s everyday life in a small town, shows us how she fares in her lonely existence when the others have cast her out. The reason behind her exiled existence isn’t quite clear, but as the story progresses, it becomes clear that it is tied to an incident concerning her friend Maude Collins. Amidst her growing seclusion, the aliens arrive with a mission of their own. The movie focuses primarily on Brynn’s character, played skillfully by Kaitlyn Dever. She is a great actress in the making, having shown her talent with performances in films such as Booksmart,...

Paul McCartney and John Lennon were an incredibly successful songwriting duo. While the Lennon-McCartney name is attached to hundreds of Beatles songs, many were primarily written by either Lennon or McCartney. Lennon wrote plenty of iconic tracks for the band, and McCartney revealed which of his friend’s songs from The Beatles is his favorite.
Paul McCartney said ‘Julia’ is his favorite Beatles song by John Lennon
Lennon had a tragic childhood while growing up in Liverpool. His father abandoned him at a very young age, and his mother was deemed unfit to take care of him. He did have contact with his mother, Julia, but he lived with his Aunt Mimi. In 1958, his mother was struck by a car and killed. Lennon’s complicated emotions toward his parents, especially his mother, often manifested in his music.

Editors note: This review was originally published May 18 after its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival where it co-won the Jury Prize. It opens in New York theaters Friday.
After breaking out internationally in 2012 with his Oscar-nominated drama The Broken Circle Breakdown, and making his Hollywood debut in 2018 with Beautiful Boy, Felix van Groeningen makes his Competition debut in Cannes with The Eight Mountains, perhaps the most understated film of his career so far.
This is a gentle tale of a decades-spanning friendship that seems a little out of its depth in such a heavyweight showcase. With terrific cinematography and two engaging leads, it’s easy on the eye — as well it should be at two hours and 27 minutes — but it’s lackluster in its telling and pales next to Paolo Sorrentino’s The Hand of God, which covered similar themes of adolescence and young adulthood last awards season.

Amazon Prime Video has added a new feature called Dialogue Boost, which allows customers to increase the volume of dialogue relative to background music and effects, the streamer announced on Tuesday.
According to the company, Prime Video is the first global streaming service to offer this feature, which traditionally has only been available in high-end theater systems or select Smart TVs. While Dialogue Boost was built with the needs of customers who are hard of hearing in mind, anyone can use the feature to suit their personal preferences.
Users can now select Dialogue Boost on English-language Amazon Originals worldwide including TV series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Harlem,” and on original films “The Big Sick,” “Being the Ricardos,” and “Beautiful Boy.” It will be available for additional titles later this year.

Raise your hand if you’ve found yourself recently rewinding your movie or episode back 10 seconds over and over again to pick up a line of dialogue you simply can’t make out, only to give in and finally turn on the dang closed captions. It’s a topic that’s been Googled and explained to death, and Amazon is finally doing something about it.
Introducing: Dialogue Boost, a new function from Amazon that lets you actually understand what’s being said on its shows. The AI-powered feature will let you increase the volume of dialogue relative to background music and effects, and you can customize it to your personal preference, all to create a “more comfortable and accessibly viewing experience.”
Amazon says Dialogue Boost was designed with the hard-of-hearing audience in mind to make their programming more accessible (open captions might be preferable). But this has been a complaint...
