Terrible, Student 1 Man Film!
xcops-126 June 2020
This is your typical terrible student made 1 actor movie.

Avoid it like the plague.

So mysterious how such a bad film gets 10 or so 9/10 star reviews right away.

Let me guess, the cameraman left a review, the sound guy left a review, then their folks left a review.

So bad, don't even bother.

Awful and disappointing
mads-105-89373526 June 2020
I was really on the hype train after reading the news about this $0 budget movie making a lot of money on it's first days of release. The trailer was really promising as well. But damn the movie was bad! Awful acting and a nonexistent plot. Not even any food for thought.

Maybe you need be a YouTuber to enjoy this. I didn't.

Excruciatingly awful
jake_fantom27 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is the most excruciating waste of 30 minutes that most of us are likely to experience, but thanks to a massive campaign of one-time reviewers who have declared this the next Citizen Kane, you're probably wondering if you should at least take a peek. The answer is an unequivocal no. The "number-one box office blockbuster" nonsense that trumpets this epic failure is derived from the simple fact that, thanks to Covid-19, not a single other film has been released to cinemas in months, so this turkey, with a total of $24,000 in box office sales (almost certainly the result of hustling tickets to family and friends), could make that deceptive claim. Some movies are so bad they're good, but that's not the case here. It's just plain bad. Bad concept, bad script, bad acting, bad camera work, bad lighting, bad everything. So please don't be taken in by the 10-star reviews - if you check you will find that 99% of the reviewers have only reviewed a single movie, this one.

Best Film Ever!!!
cyrfis-1585716 June 2020
I don't even know how to start, I think... no, I'm sure it's the best film I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to see the film at the cinema (sold out all the time) - so I had to wait, but it was worth it. Blumhouse, watch out, these guys are coming.

sofiaellia2 July 2020
Omg is awful a bunch of you tubers talking about non sense and they are painful to watch they got zero talent apart from this girl who is a little better. I know that the put effort in this and I acknowledge that but I just could make it past the 5 minutes.

Neat, Social Media-infused Shocker With Allusions to Hitchcock and Rear Window
kevnick11 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Those who know me know that I often take great pause when it comes to appreciating current horror films or even films made today in any genre because of my overwhelming tendency to be quick to nag on a film's familiarity in theme or the or that it is predictable with contrivances etc. Was I surprised to discover "Unsubscribe"! Director Christian Nilsson and co-producer/star Eric Tabach have concocted a 28 minute short that offers some original twists, a fresh perception on the lure of internet fame, and a subtle tribute to Hitchcock and "Rear Window" all wrapped with a blood red bow for fans. Tabach stars as Eric, one of a group of friends invited to participate in a zoom video conference birthday call for a friend named Zach. What is revealed during the call is that who arranged it is actually a true stranger to the friends and that they are being targeted for murder. The entire cast of relative unknowns (fans of Charlie Tahan, who plays Whitey, will recall him as the child Ethan in Will Smith's 2007 blockbuster "I am Legend") is first rate, never overplaying to type but rather playing to just what the moments call for (including a bit of aloof distance underplaying that was refreshing). Tabach brings a fond remembrance of James Stewart as he plays the disabled Eric, first to suspect that what he is witnessing during the Zoom call is actually real and not a stunt. The deaths he and the others see are actually happening. Michelle Khare is similarly a revelation as Michelle, the popular youtuber amongst the gang, who's own obsession with follower numbers and fame is examined in something of a decidedly frank, full frontal manner. Nilsson eschews gore in favor of minimalist style (almost a natural conceit when your budget is estimated at $1 but there is still skill in making what little you do have work so it bears noting anyway). As this was done during the current COVID crisis, some of the camera shooting was simply the actors on web cam in their own home and on their pc (though some footage was done by Nilsson in his home), much of the minimalism springs from the very tight editing done by the director himself (3 weeks in the editing process I read, with only one day shooting) and the feeling the finished product shown seems to have very little being wasted as far as needless scenes of exposition etc. All in all a most impressive effort from Nilsson, Tabach, Khare and company and I look forward to their next efforts.

Just terrible
anonanon215 August 2020
It's just quite awfully stupid. I wasted a short time of my life I will never get back. Please don't call me a TROLL for telling the truth. No pun intended. The acting sucked. The plot sucked and the directors sucked.

THE END.

New era of filmmaking
noahmila-6349818 June 2020
The concept of the film is something i would consider as genius. The cinematography in this quarantine based film is just as you expect it to be, but the outstanding performances and the well written script make up for that. Chapeau! 9/10

The Best Film.
oishaninandi18 June 2020
I made an IMDb just for this review! It was the best movie that I have ever watched. It was such a shame that I couldn't watch it in the cinema, I would've happily gone even during COVID-19 for this masterpiece of a movie! Everyone, HAS to see this movie. It truly is a must watch.

ACTUALLY GOOD
Gotta be honest - I downloaded this after I read an article and thought it was funny. Only $4 so whatever, didnt cost anything. Ended up actually really liking it... it was creepy and a couple of good jump scares. The performances were good and I heard they made for $1 but it looks pretty legit. Also its only 30 mins so not even a big time investment and it goes fast. I liked it!

Had me hooked from the start
lucasisfilmingyt2 July 2020
Now, listen here. I promise you I'm not from the cast or crew, this is just an honest review. At first I thought the whimsical Eric Tabach was bluffing when he talked about how amazing this film was. Then I watched it. I was hooked from the start, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Sure, there are a few "glitches" that are obviously cuts that aren't hidden well, and tracking gets pretty bad in some places. But editing aside, this movie gave me all I was looking for and it set out what it wanted to do, which was create the #1 movie in the world. With absolutely incredible performances from everyone in the cast and some insane twists along with a couple jump scares, all I have to say is good job to Tabach and the talented team. And for everyone complaining about crew members leaving reviews, stop acting so serious. This was a movie made mostly for the comedic fact that it was #1 in the box office, you don't have to look into it that hard. I enjoyed it.

Great use of the video conferencing medium, fun watch
genesjockey19 June 2020
I definitely enjoyed Unsubscribe. It was a fun use of video conferencing as a movie-making medium. The interplay of various parts of our digital lives in one horror film was fun. Definitely worth a watch.
