We're just the messengers here
dannylee-7808222 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Navarro demands immunity from the Byrds 2. PI is looking for Helen 3. Jonah is on Ruth's side

I'm excited to begin this season! Ozark Season 4 pt 1 picks up right off where it was left with the explosive (no pun intended) ending of season 3. The Byrds are tasked with what seems impossible and will push them further into the political side of matters as it will involve earning favors from the government.

Loving the dysfunctional family dynamic - black comedy at its best. The new characters introduced like Javi definitely adds to the show in a positive way. Overall, solid episode with very few moments with lowered tension.

Great Beginning
tristan_1921 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We pick off where we left off last season. The stakes are set up from the beginning. The new characters are interesting. Javier is scary, and the new P. I seems really smart. Jonah is still hurt, and who could blame him ? We truly understand where each character is coming from.

Ruth is looking out for Wyatt and her family. I wouldn't be surprised if she played her own game, and actually ends up running the motel (and caring for it) or a legitimate business at the end of all this, instead of helping in the drug organization. It would be a fitting end story for her, as the Langmores could finally be seen as a respectable family welcoming people into the Ozarks.

The ending was absolutely unexpected. Nix is dead, and the season is off to a bang.

Bang!!!
Gus-Lannister21 January 2022
Here we go again. Ozark starts of the 4th and final season with an absolute bang. New alliances are made. An antagonist is introduced and plot lines arise. The cinematography is still extremely grey and de saturated and the music is still full of tension. This is an absolutely fantastic opener and I can't wait for the rest of s4.

Ozark rules

Warning: Spoilers
The people on here calling Wendy's son "Ben", need to get it straight, he was her mentally ill brother. Her son is Jonah and he is very annoying and I dont see a great end to him if he keeps this up, I dont think he realizes how dangerous their business really is. This is a great show, and I have always liked Ruth, too bad she is against the Byrdes now. And the baby that Darlene took, Zeke, he should be older than an infant by now, lol.

Intriguing premiere to a hopefully brilliant season.
bayleykedar21 January 2022
I haven't seen Ozark since lockdown of 2020, when S3 had just premiered, and I believe that's when most people found the show. Ozark is the rare type of show that genuinely got better as each season progressed, which should make S4 the best yet.

I'm overdue a refresher on a lot of key events and details seeing as its been over two years since I watched the show, but the premiere to S4 was certainly intriguing nonetheless. I am slightly confused by the opening, however the rest of the episode was fairly easy to dissect. The tension still remains, the problems still continue to mount, it's very much the Ozark we all know and love. But just as S3 changed the direction of the show, Ozark's atmosphere feels as brooding and moody as ever. It is filmed incredibly well, with such a profound emphasis placed on the show's world-building, as we continue to follow the story of the Byrdes in this gloomy town. It's particularly fascinating to be reintroduced to their family dynamic, which operates identically to that of any normal family yet is far more dramatic in nature. It almost operates as a dark comedy at times, regardless of whether or not that is intentional.

Linney and Bateman continue to impress and the stakes continue to rise. I'm intrigued as to where we are heading and I'm excited for the ride.

8/10.

Why are you still alive?
bosporan26 April 2022
A dramatic opener and we see Marty and Wendy shell shocked, still splattered with pieces of Helen. Things move on rapidly to set the scene for this season with Navarro outlining his demands. Allegiances shift following Ruth's alliance with Darlene and two new characters are introduced, Navarro's ambitious nephew and a tenacious PI seeking Helen.

All of this together creates immediate complexity, tension and jeopardy for the Byrdes and others following the usual pattern of violent intrigue. An excellent first episode.

It should end even more tragic than Breaking Bad.
sd-forum24 January 2022
Great first episode. Very dark and menacing without anyone yelling or overtly doing things. Everyone is kind of calm which makes it even more menacing and evil.

They have gone a path that there is no return. You go one step at a time into a path and then it's too late. This shouldn't have a "happy" ending. It should be even more tragic than Breaking Bad.

The greatest threat comes from the inside
shubhnagrawal3 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The show is truly centred around this phrase in the season 4, with Ruth and Jonah turning against the Byrde family. Their betrayal is interesting and annoying at the same time and Jonah doesn't have a sense of judgement, he is becoming Ben. Jonah has become what Charlotte was in Season 2.

How old is that baby Darlene is carrying?
mishargn1122 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Surely Darlene's adopted baby should be walking by now....she took that kid in at least two seasons ago yet it's still in infant form! Major goof! Otherwise good opening episode.

The cast is getting bumped off too fast.
Mike-LeBlanc26 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I binged S4 part 1 over the weekend and it was OK but not up to previous seasons. I will watch part 2 but, at the current rate of attrition, there will be 4 characters left in the final episode and we already know what happens to them.

To everyone who hates Jonah: Having once been a 14yo boy and now the grandfather of one, I have a news flash for you: They ALL are annoying.

Jonah
jmat4025 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's time to put Jonah and Ruth on the hit list. What a back stabbing no good piece of work he is. Jonah is going to get in waaaaaaay over his head.

I have to keep typing until I get 150 characters.

Episode 401

Warning: Spoilers
Did not like the tease of the future at the beginning for no reason.

And then the start of the new season just felt odd. Too slow-moving and I don't want to see Ruth vs. The family for a whole season.

Ruth is still the star of the show
gedikreverdi21 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Jonah is going to launder for Ruth and he hates his family for the murder of his uncle. Omar's nephew is such an idiot. He killed the sheriff because he was staying at the house of the woman that his cartel uncle shot dead. I mean who would do such a thing? Then there's this private detective looking for Helen. Darlene'a life is in danger, too. It started off pretty good but we need smarter antagonists than that nephew.

Jumped the Shark - Fonzie surfing in his leather jacket
michele-savino-atl25 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Perhaps, because too much time elapsed between seasons, but I find Season 4 Preposterous. I can't help thinking the cast must, as well. Wendy is the biggest Bitch. ( I never understood the casting of her with Bateman. ) Ruth, does not have one line written for her that does not involve F-Bombs. It's lazy writing.

Whatever, greed keeps many series going long past the point when it was truly good.

Excellent Opener
FilmBrat10521 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I like the storytelling in this episode, and I like the trajectory of the overall plot. It's extremely difficult to decide whether I'm team Marty & Wendy or team Ruth & Darlene. I want to root for Ruth, and I understand her hurt, but she is infuriating me like never before. I think she's just desperately trying to prove something to Marty & Wendy. I understand where Jonah is coming from, but I can tell his rebellious arc is going to get old very fast, and he likely won't get any comeuppance, so I'm guessing at some point he'll turn back and embrace his mother once again. I'm also very worried that Ruth & Wendy might not be able to come back from their fallout from the end of last season and the continuous ruin of their relationship this season. I really enjoy Navarro as a villain, but I wish he'd do a bit more. I'm starting to sense his nephew may be the main threat. Plenty of stories, character development, and action in this episode, and this is only the start.

Great episode, great characters. Love Wendy too! Wish there were many more seasons, but will just have to enjoy the last one. Hoping the best for the Byrdes, well... except Jonah.... haha. Loving the plot so far this season!!

I just watched the first one so far
bosimmons-4478221 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished the first episode and it was just a normal one good but not the best ever. I do have a problem though. Okay so Ruth killed her brother the father to Wyatt but when Ben gets killed she is more upset about that to Jason Bateman then wyatt is to ruth. She killed his father and they're like buddy buddy now but Ben gets killed someone ruth knew for literary a couple months and she is all like im going to ruin the lives of the birds. It's like really i like the relationship between Jason and ruth and i get it the show needs to go this way but its just not constant in that regards.

As good as it gets
matiasbockerman21 January 2022
I'm not wrote reviews about a year, now, however, I would like to say a couple of words: I've looked at the Ozark series of all episodes at least twice and after the third season I thought that this series is as highlighted as for examble Mr. Robot or Breaking Breaking Bad, and this first episode prove that I'm right: this is as good as TV series gets. Very realistic, dramatic, shocking, the atmosphere has been created to threaten even when the threat should not be There, that tells a well series character's state of mind. Tension is always present. The exhibition and character development is spectacular to watch, directing is amazing and especially the series of writing is at its own level. This better value streaming service users can not get their money.

Great show just can't stand the son
Zedyeti23 January 2022
Only problem is Ben. The character is annoying and can see a very annoying storyline developing with his anger towards his parents. Why do most main characters in popular Netflix shows have the worst children characters? Either way it doesn't ruin the show enough to quit it.

The Rebellious kid narrative is tiresome
orange77525 January 2022
There has been too many good show that are being ruined by the same rebellious kid plot. Ray Donovan, Power just to name a few from recent years. Now Jonah is going down this route, which his sister already had her turn in the previous seasons. Very disappointing first episode. Also really can't stand the ungrateful Ruth plotline either.

Odd comments
cmalpelli1 May 2023
I'm curious if the people, not all but many, actually read their comments before they send them through. I'm also wondering if these same people are actually paying attention to what they're watching, one person actually wrote that "the son Ben needs to go", um hello Ben is Wendy's brother and he died last season, where have you been, apparently not pay attention to this show. There was more than one person who was complaining about getting rid of Ben, honestly how could you comment when you're complaining about something that has already happened, these same people also have no concept of how the English language works, terrible grammar and incoherent sentences, if you're going to complain at least try to do it properly, I really don't care if you like the show or not because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you can't stand a particular character then I'd say that they're doing an excellent job to get such an emotional response from you. Personally I think that the show is excellent, the pace is right where it should be and the twists and turns are spot on.

Why turn?
djetm22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why turn on your family like that?

Just for a chance of a bit of action?

I did not like that.

Only seen the first episode of s4.

I know this is not right, but I got a bit mad.

Laura Linney flops the TV Show
bla-824-49371925 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Laura Linney is so irritating, Her overreaction is really annoying! She is so unnatural, giving looks and smiles with too much expression when no needed.

And one think got me very irritated is: why would both kids still sit a table to have lunch with a mother that had just killed their uncle.

I know this is fiction, but it needs to be cohesive with how a human can react in that situation.

Go watch this S4. I am here to review the entire Part 1 of S4
MReddy_Nolan22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Man I didn't had any expectations but this season knocked it out of the park. It is on par with Season 5 of Better Call Saul. To be honest, I am not fan of first 3 seasons but watched them for Bateman. But S4 is so good. There was never a boring scene and every episode has so much happening. I am glad I gave Ozark one more chance.
