Not so bad for 2008 anime
whiteshadow160628 February 2012
First of all, I do not play the game. So, my review is based solely on the anime.

I watched the whole 26 episodes two nights in a row. The plot really awesome and makes me want to keep going.

But, I have to admit I don't really get the term used like the Seventh Fonon, Lorelai & Fon Arte. Until I finished the anime, I still haven't quite figured out what are they ACTUALLY are.

Also, there are a lot of emotions involved. There are time where I laughed, angry and even cried. It's good.

However, the anime lacks action or more specifically the fighting scenes. I was somehow irritates that the main character is so weak. The hero should be strong and have powerful power. Although, he actually had one (can create the hyperresonance, but he didn't seem to be using the power so much). Instead he fight with the sword which obviously he's not so good with.

And there's no explanation on how the other characters got their powers. Like for example Natalia. She suddenly at the end can shoot the arrow with fon while in the beginning she only shoot a normal arrow. And how come each character have their special power while others can't? Where do they got that power? That's still bother me.

Well, actually there's so many things that I want the director to explain. But, I'm not going to review it here. Anyway, just see the anime if you're an anime lover.

Okay why I rate it 6? Because in game they usually use magic but in anime the fighting scene is so lame. It's like "PFFFFT" and finish. specially the last episode of the anime. They fight the last boss in 8 minutes only. And I'm not satisfied in the skill that they use in anime. I like magics skill but in anime there are lack of magic. The anime is more on conversation. The Japanese dubbed is not good. but the animation is good. Graphics 7/10 Plot 5/10 Characters 6/10 Sound effect 5/10

Anyway I watch this anime because of their Opening theme Karma/Bump of the chicken

The anime is good at all but there are some episode that you will say boring. anyway I enjoy watching it. I finish it until episode 26 because I like the story. The story is unique in some aspect. and If you love playing Tales series I know you will love the anime too

Brilliant but missing half of the game
sharky925217 February 2009
I would have given this a straight 10 but because of the substance it's missing I can't go beyond half the top score.

To start with, this Anime is a simply brilliant adaptation of one of the greatest games in the 'Tales of' games history. The story is gripping; it is a perfect mirror of the game! It almost uses the exact same dialogue in the exact same order. It is literally like watching the game animated. Whilst the game would definitely work up a score of 10, this anime can only work up a score of 5 because the game lacks any 'action' scenes. A reason the game was so good is because of it's battle system but this anime has completely gotten rid of that by having minimal action scenes with only a couple of tributes to the famous "Artes" of the Tales series.

Even though it lacks action, I definitely recommend this breath taking beautiful adaption anime. If you like any Tales games you will simply adore this anime.

Absolutely stupid.......
Irishchatter8 June 2019
The Japanese sub actors seemed to have been placed on the wrong characters because I swear, they sounded rather brutal within each character. Also the animation was rather too stupid, I felt like my eyes were about to become blind by its horrendous attempt...

Avoid!
