Unbecoming Habits: Part 4 - Lord Dismiss Us
Prismark109 August 2020
Bognor thinks he will get assistance from Lord Camberley, the father of Batty Tom.

After all he would want to know who is responsible for his son's death. Bognor is alarmed to find that Lord Camberley has blown his cover with Anselm.

At least Bognor with the help of his wife manages to follow one of the monk's who regularly gets picked up by a fast car belonging to a MP. After all Bognor's assignment was to investigate the leaking of secrets to the Russians.

At times I find that the series is trying too hard to be quirky and it loses focus with the mystery aspects of it. You have Bognor getting lost as he follows Brother Edmund.

There is also a problem of tone. I have no idea what time this was shown when it was first broadcast by ITV. I do wonder why the fourth episode included some gratuitous female nudity as it just felt so random.

I have no issues with seeing the character of Lena Strudwick introduced in the previous episode naked. She frolics in the pool with a nude Brother Edmund. Well at least it makes a change from seeing all the dodgy monks out and about.

However Bognor so far has only one major female character, Mes Bognor. So you would think Lena would be a significant other female character but she seems to be only introduced for titillation.

If you have nudity on television these days, it would likely to be included in the first episode so it can have the tabloid press frothing and garnering publicity for the show.

Richard Hurndall plays Lord Camberley. Although he had a long distinguished career, he would always be known as replacing the late William Hartnell as the first Doctor in the Doctor Who special The Five Doctors in 1983.

Hurndall died soon after his Doctor Who episode was broadcast, apparently the BBC never bothered paying him because he had died.
