The only mobile game I bother with

It's a collectible card game that plays like Hearthstone but with a much smaller emphasis on removal, resulting in a game that leans more towards skill rather than the extreme swings of fortune seen in Hearthstone. And a much cheaper presentation, but the game's got heart.

Yet another miss for 40K game scene
ThisFace13 June 2023
There are tons of Warhammer 40K games. Some of them hit, but most of them miss. This one pivots toward latter.

Horus Heresy: Legions is a card game from 2019 that is all about deck building and collecting. Think of it as a 40K hearthstone, but much less content. There are some players still, and you can find some group to play with, without much rummaging. What really lacking is not the player count, but the game itself.

At its release, this game already had tons of cards in it. More than it can handle, honestly. They cramped in so much that the balance got out of their hands. Less than 10 decks are at least viable in the rank game. They do try to balance it, but it is mostly about bringing the top decks down. Which forgotten are just forgotten.

As for the collecting bit, you won't find much joy in it. Effort alone won't let you get the card you want, let alone the deck. It is a P2W, and that doesn't look so bright either.

Everguild. Ltd, the very same company that released this game, has planning for their new 40K card game called Warhammer 40K Warpforge. Demo is planned in October, and overall theme of the game looks more or less same, with few tweaks in gameplay. So, you might not want to open your wallet for this game.

Derivitive Game with Lackluster Dev Team
mjalfonso-657383 September 2021
This is a rehash of a rehash. It's basically Hearthstone with a Warhammer skin. Power creep is horrible, and every new patch or content update results in months of severe imbalance.

This is the 2nd game by Developer EverGuild. Their first, which was on Kongregate the last I knew, had the exact same game-play, but with more of a medieval fantasy skin. There is nothing new here, and even the original art had some claims of being lifted from various other places.

But enough about the good parts of this game. The voice acting is poor, but at least they pronounce most of the words correctly. It is definitely pay to win, with premium cards being demonstrably better than alternatives.

What's worse, the RNG does not allow for any guarantee for cards. It will eventually guarantee all card levels to be pulled, but it does not guarantee any unique cards, so you can (and some people have) spend years never getting what you want, even when pouring money in to it. And there's no crafting component, so you're stuck with RNG or nothing. There are also disconnect exploits, which appear to have been around in their previous game, also, but which the dev team has refused to fix. They will ban a player suspected of cheating (regardless of this is true or not), but do not fix their code.

Highly recommended to avoid.
