Superb start.

Faced with bankruptcy and financial ruin, John Darwin sets up a cunning plan, to vanish at sea, abandoning his canoe, so that his wife Anne can receive his life insurance policy.

I absolutely loved this first episode, it was brilliant, the fact that it's based on real life events makes it all the better, even I can remember this being splashed all over the news.

What I thought was staggering, was the impact the events had on Anne, you could see she was hit hard by the guilt, panic, expense etc.

Superb acting, Marsan great if course, Monica Dolan though, there's a reason she's my favourite actress, and this is why.

Loved it, 9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Monica Dolan is superb as Anne Darwin in this true life adaptation that is so unbelievable but yes it really happened. Eddie Marsan is very convincing as John Darwin, and in a way one can feel bad about his failed business ventures, but what was he thinking in such desperate times.

I can't wait for the next three episodes.

Lazy, lazy ITV

Wow.

How utterly lazy do ITV want to be?!

I know they'll claim it's the summer months and people don't watch telly, there's no point wasting new material during this time, but this aired the first time just over a year ago and now it is being repeated in prime time.

Was it that good the first time? No! Couldn't it just live on ITVX and we'll find it again if we so choose to revisit it? Yes. If you were really besotted with it you could always go old school and buy the DVD.

But no, ITV have decided that this is the best course of action. In my opinion it's the wrong one, and is lazy.

This wasn't great the first time, it doesn't need repeating.
