Boring
Saving215 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had two levels. One was the case on deck murder of Petty officer that was linked to trial that gibs is taking part in , that story was just boring . The second level was to get Gibs to understand that his actions, beating a man who abused dogs few episodes earlier, has consequences. That his actions can hurt his testimony. But from what was shown, the notice didn't came trough .Gibs still thinking he did right and he doesn't care or has second thought. I love Gibs character he was always seeking justice his way. But This seem pushing his character too far to him getting annoying.

NCIS is trying to deal with law enforcement brutality that is in the news these days but it's not really working. Gibs was wrong but he could have walked away freely if he only said sorry and in this episode a guilty man could have walked freely due to his actions but once again he was rescued and didn't really face any consequences or remorse.

Misconduct

Warning: Spoilers
The show is at least trying to do something fresh with the Gibbs suspension and possible punishment, but I just can't get invested in it. We know everyone isn't getting in trouble so what is the point.

Should have cancelled series

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with reviewer who says this season has been a disaster.

Whoever wrote this episode must be a grade school kid. They show every indication of never having seen any courtroom TV either fictional or non-fictional. Neither the prosecutor nor the defense lawyer ever could have gotten away with the extraneous comments during testimony. But the dirt could have been offered in closing and would have stuck to Gibbs and every conviction he has ever been a part of would now be under review.

The money to the victims would take months if not years to return. It would have taken a while just to get it out of the casino, especially in a foreign country.

Wifey was pretty slick being so successful at killing not just one but two people, given that she had no experience as a killer, especially when the real target knew he was in trouble.

As far as I noticed, the writers did avoid the issue of double jepordy.

Stupid Prosecutor
mqrtdpxa7 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe this prosecutor, she is so incompetent. I am not going to go into it you feel Gibbs did anything wrong. Legally I guess he did. But because I like dogs, morally I don't think he did. But she knew ahead of time that the defense attorney was going to bring up this issue. So after the defense attorney just attacked your witness, why didn't she cross examine Gibbs. The defense attorney opened the subject of Gibbs assault. So, be prepared. Again you don't have to dwell on if he was right or wrong. But you could show his reason for his actions. Since the defense attorney opened the can of worms. Why wasn't she ready with pictures of the dead drowned dogs in the cages ? This might of turned the sympathy of the jury for Gibbs instead of against him.

Recommend LegalEagle

This episode had potential but the legal errors are driving me crazy. I recommend the writers watch LegalEagle (YouTube) to learn more about how the courtroom and cases actually work.

Free Gibbs NOW
spikeluvr6 May 2021
They've jumped the shark with the Gibbs suspension. It's ridiculous that his suspension results in an unrelated case freeing a guilty man. They've milked that cow dry and Gibb's stubborn refusal in saying he wasn't sorry isn't even believable. This entire television season has been a wasteland of political agendas and COVID lectures. They've abandoned all pretense of good stories with believable characters. It's a shame to see such a great show go down in flames.

Please FIRE the writers immediately!

A potentially okay episode the plot of which hangs on extended ramifications of Gibbs' assault on the suspect several episodes back. Dumb and dumber. Fire the writers and save the show.

Knitting needles in a court room?
danshook2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This series is really going downhill! Sloan's gone, Emily Fornell's dead, and now Gibbs is suspended. And Palmer's character is just annoying. But wait! Let's have Mark Harmon give his wife, Pam Dawber, a role as a reporter! Yeesh!

This episode was almost as painful to watch as Episode 9, "Gut Punch." At least that annoying Special Agent Sawyer wasn't in it!

Huge goof up in Minute 13: The old lady to the left of Gibbs is using knitting needles. Knitting and crochet needles aren't allowed in court houses! A simple fact check before filming could have prevented this glaring mistake! Didn't anyone notice this?

Written by an idiot

If you are going to write an episode that centers on a trial, it's a good idea to have at least a vague inkling of what real trials are like in this century, rather than what they were like on Perry Mason. Maybe watch... or, just about any legal TV show that's been on in the last 20 years?

A competent lawyer, when dealing with a known credibility problem, would not have left it for the opposition to bring up, but would have addressed it directly to deny the opposition any way to swing or use that problem. Deal with it directly, get it out of the way, and actually be... what's the word? Competent? Professional?

The fact that the writers clearly don't understand the idea shows that either they don't care about the show, or that they have no respect for the people who watch it.

So much of this show has improved this season (Getting rid of Sloane, for example) that it seems a shame that the writers can't seem to understand the idea of just having an investigative show with competent (if maybe quirky) characters.

Pretty frustrating
harrykivi1 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The 18th season of "NCIS" was pretty good up untill "1mm". After that, only "Sangre" has impressed. "Misconduct" is not an awful episode, but is not very well-written at all.

Let's start with the good aspects.

. The production values of the episode are great. "Misconduct" is well-directed, the music fits the scenery and I liked the performances.

. The story is occasionally intriguing, some jokes hit and I did like the idea of the episode partly taking place in a courtroom.

But....

. Not all the jokes hit, some of them are feel stupid. Leon has been out of character for the last few episodes, acting very badly towards Gibbs for no apparent reason. The courtroom aspect of the story is frustrating at best and being interested in law, I noticed myself reacting to some dumb moments.

For instance: the prosecutor claims that Gibbs, who was suspended for beating a dog killer, is not a reliable witness. Wrong. An agents suspension for violent behavior has nothing to do with him being a reliable witness. Even murderers can come to the witness-stand if necessary. The defendant of Parker James accuses Gibbs of fabricating evidence against his client. On what basis? The witness (Agent Gibbs) did not lie about his altercation with the dog killer. There is no connection between Parker once confessing to Gibbs to the incident with the dog killer. Those are completely different situations. And the Jury or prosecutor does not point those logical issues out? It's pretty jarring actually and shows some not quality writing.

Overall, a frustrating episode.

4/10 HK.
