Laissez les bon temps rouler!

This was very good, but here we go! Every time a new character is introduced to replace an existing long-running one we have wailing and gnashing of teeth from the mob. They complain that the new character doesn't fit, that the writers have got it all wrong, that the producers have made a dreadful casting decision, or even worse, an ad hominem attack on the actor - that their acting isn't up to the part. (That really disgusts me - any character seen on screen is the product of a team, often vast, as here, not just the actor.) Don't worry! Once that new character has settled in for a year or two, these same complainers will be (mostly) just as vociferous should the producers decide to end that character. Time moves on!

Blown Away

Warning: Spoilers
Kind of exciting at times, but also hard to get me to care about the characters here tonight.

I just want good stories related to the core cast. Is that too much to ask?

One of the better episodes of the season
harrykivi6 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Blown Away" is not a great episode, but it is one of the better episodes of the season. Miles better than some of the dull stories this season.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of the episode are great. The episode is mostly well-directed (though there are some amateurish camera movements at the beginning of "Blown Away"). The music fits the scenery and the acting's solid for the most part. Katrina Law has a decent debut as Jessica Knight, only Pam Dawber is a bit wooden at times.

. The mystery is pretty mature this time around, very little stupid stuff. There are some solid twists and turns, like the setup with Gibbs and Marcie.

But...

. The humor is still not working for me, there are moments of awkwardness here and there. The solution did not surprise as much as I would have wanted. The dialogue could have been less melodramatic at times too.

Overall, a fine episode.

6/10 HK.

Katrina Law / Jessica Knight Robo-Cop
Johnny_West23 May 2021
Like Clint Eastwood on steroids, the Jessica Knight character is ten levels above obnoxious and annoying. She gets blown up, miraculously survives, checks herself out of the hospital, and then intrudes herself into an NCIS investigation that she cannot be a part of, since she is one of the victims. Totally bogus character and story. Even Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry stayed in the hospital when he was shot, but Jessica Knight is off the charts super-cop.

Not much else to say about this story. It has been done several times before in the NCIS TV series. The owner/developer of military equipment or software is producing bad gear and someone discovers the flaws and gets murdered. This story goes back to the 1950s, Simon Templar, Man From UNCLE, Mission Impossible, etc.

Jessica Knight

She and the horrible writing for her character RUINED THIS EPISODE. Can these guys please please please fire the current writers and hire some professionals. Please. Also I hope so much that we never see Jessica Knight again, ever. Just when they get a couple decent episodes made and aired they fall back to horrible plotlines terrible writing and a complete lack of actual military storyline. They have wondered so far from the fantastic show they used to produce.

Please, no.

Warning: Spoilers
News is out about Emily Wickersham leaving the show, and in NCSI tradition they started trying new characters. All I can say is for the love of God do not keep that Jessica Knight woman.

I made the terrible mistake of watching some season 1 episodes before this one. I miss Kate, I miss Ziva. They were good characters. Hope they write another good character. A good, strong, smart female agent doesn't have to act all crazy like Knight: ¼ emotional woman, the rest macho. Please try harder.

Clearly someone is leaving the show
koohii19 April 2023
Clearly someone is about to leave the show, and the auditions have started.

This story... ...needed another few sessions to bake and rethink the entire plot. The super-hero armor at the beginning of the episode looked really stupid--especially when worn by a hostage negotiator who needs to be non-threatening.

Could this be the new agent? We've seen worse candidates. I never liked Ziva.

Also, someone needs to start putting some thought into protecting the characters from shoddy writers. Gibbs' brutally assaulting a suspect, the rest of the agency willing to cover it up, his own team talking about destroying evidence, Ziva coming back from the dead (meaning that she abandoned her daughter, oh, and had a daughter with Tony without ever bothering to tell him? What a truly horrible person!).

So very many things are being done to harm the show.

Can we please ditch all the soap opera crap and go back to solving realistic cases? What about the guy stuffed into a fuel pod and dropped? Remember that? Or the guy in charge of the banking system whose wife & daughter were kidnapped in order to force him to hand over money? You know--stories based on helping Naval personnel rather than giving us stupid "Will They/Won't They." Give us back the show we started with.

Too Cocky
bellapple-595075 October 2021
FBI Special Agent Alden Park, I do not like Gary Cole playing in the NCIS. I have look at several him as a actor he is too cocky and trying to be like Gibbs. Please replace him.
