Maybe finally Gibbs is back?
Saving2121 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So in this episode we started off from the last season cliffhanger the explosion of Gibbs's ship and Ellie departure . The episode wasn't bad we didn't get any closer to the serial killer but we had interesting story and good lead to the rest of the season. I loved that agent Knight joined the team officially , she just clicked well with Toress and McGee it felt like she was working with them for years. Katrina Law is really good actress that works well with everyone.

I don't know what will be with Gibbs I just hope we won't see him like we did in the season alone, grumpy and just annoying we need to see him with his team in the field.

A solid start to season 19; some answers
hindsonevansmike30 January 2024
This was worth spending an hour (with adverts included). Gibbs begins to recover having landed ashore.

The crop of red herrings is steadily whittled down and answers emerge. The complicated plotting is well-constructed WHEN you look back at the end of the episode - which is in effect, the entrée to a two-parter closing off the blown-up Gibbs boat which concluded Season 18 earlier in 2021.

We finally get to understand (or be reminded) of the leaning behind "Rule 91" - and Tim McGee and Gibbs finally come to an understanding (a well-written and well-acted scene between Murray and Harmon).

The "new Emily" arrives and the beginnings of a stable ensemble cast begin to re-assert themselves. Onwards to Episode Two...

Ok but not enough twists
writeon-8727522 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad episode..not the best but will get better when the killers are being tracked in the next episodes..and Gibbs hopefully is back with his team..although I think Mcgee will have more of a say after his speech to Gibbs..who was impressed.

More of straight story..not enough twists in the tale.

NCIS bounces back with best episode in a long time
parkshady21 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Thought the show died for good after last season I went in this season nervous but this episode has brought . McGee is no longer the geeky bumbling rookie or probie we once knew he's a leader now. Gibbs may be in less scenes but he's still going to be the show. The best part of this episode is how McGee and gibsbs relationship has evolved from season 1.

Finally
bmiller5922 September 2021
As parkshady said, it looks like NCIS is back. I was worried about the direction this show was going after last season's finale. And before last season we fans had to suffer thru some terrible seasons. Then, last season came and huge, dramatic and compelling episodes occurred. The season finale came and we were worried about this first episode cleaned it all up.

McGee's speech to Gibbs at the end encapsulated why we watch NCIS.

Can't wait.

At least there was Police Action
Johnny_West30 September 2021
After endless episodes about feelings and social issues, we finally get an episode that is all about catching the bad guys. Nice to see a Law Enforcement show have a law enforcement story.

Like usual, Torres looks lost in space. It would be nice if he got killed off or joined Emily Wickersham in whatever she is supposedly doing. Jimmy the Comedy Coroner seems to be a never-ending nuisance on NCIS, but we can only hope he is gone soon.

Upset that I am disappointed in more ways than one.
CrimeDrama127 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So many past crime dramas fell apart near the end. It felt like the writers ran out of ideas and producers just mailed it in. Criminal Minds is a good example. I don't want that to happen to this show but Harmon and Gibbs are both past their prime. The season 19 premiere had me intrigued.

I don't understand the purpose of the couple who saved Gibbs, keeping him in a locked barn and the woman kept him there with her rifle pointed at him. The man, being a veterinarian, made sense. For all they really knew the boat explosion was a tragic accident. It was way too much.

Marcie told Tim and Nick that Gibbs was heading to the North Shore before his boat blew up but then when Tim asks her if she knows where Gibbs is heading, she says she doesn't know. WHAT?! #smh

I loved Kate (seasons 1-2) and still don't like how and when her character was written out. Ziva was a badass but she was too awkward. I still don't believe Tony and Ziva would ever end up in a committed relationship. Ellie was different (so was McGee) and I liked her. Her exit left a lot to be desired but I like the addition of Agent Knight. I liked her two appearances last season. Knight is taller than Nick and I already know she will get the job done, in very much the same way that Gibbs always did. Makes sense to me.

An okay premiere!
harrykivi23 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"NCIS" has always been one of my favorite shows, but the last few seasons have been disappointing. Wasn't a fan of the 17th season, the 18th started off very well, but then got rather stupid. "Blood in the Water" is an average entry to the series, it's not awful, just nothing very interesting.

Let's start with the good aspects.

. The production values of the episode are fantastic. The direction's great, the music fits the scenery. The acting's good too. Mark Harmon is great, only Pam Dawber feels stiff.

. The story has its moments. Few jokes land, the ending scene with Mcgee and Gibbs was very well handled.

But...

. The team got over Ellie being gone rather quickly, more time should have been dedicated to that storyline. The dialogue is not always on point and feels awkward at times. The serial killer plotline felt left in the background too, the stuff with drugs was not the most compelling.

Overall, a flawed episode.

5/10 HK.

Blood in the Water

Warning: Spoilers
A solid start to the new season. Went for the action, even though things got randomly cleaned up a little too neatly in the end.

Not sure how the show will go without Gibbs, but we'll see.

Gibbs is DEAD
koohii25 April 2023
Seriously. The pipe bomb in the engine compartment of his boat explodes with enough force to cause the engine to explode seconds later. So that explosion would have driven shrapnel and debris into the exposed back of his head and his shoulders.

The secondary explosion of the engine had enough force to break the boat in half. If it could break wooden boards, it would have torn Gibb's torso from his waist.

Thanks to soap-opera writing, Gibbs doesn't even have a concussion--just a stab would that doesn't even start bleeding until he reaches shore.

Note: Veterinarians actually ARE qualified to practice on humans, and often served as local doctors when the human doctors were serving in WWI and WWII. The writers make is seem like "Well, I figured I'd give it a shot..." like the vet doesn't know that.

Sad to see the writing on this show going down-hill so badly. When did the writers really loose it? Season 14? 15?

Clearly some major improvement is needed. Hopefully this season will get the show back on track.
