Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach got away with a lot of bite-the-hand humor towards Mattel in their script for the blockbuster “Barbie” film. But the company still had a lot of questions about the script for their satirical comedy — including one scene where an exec of the company gets shot.
Gerwig and Baumbach spoke about their process writing the script for the “Barbie” film during a Thursday Q&a with “Angels in America” playwright Tony Kushner at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. At the Q&a, the two spoke about the notes they received during their first submitted draft of the script. One note they received comes in the film’s final act, where the Kens of Barbieland compete in a beach battle. During the chaos, Will Ferrell’s fictional Mattel CEO arrives with his mob of male executives, one of which gets shot with a fake arrow in the fray.

In the opening of the Barbie trailer, Margot Robbie gets off to the ahem… right foot by stepping out of her heels with feet still arched in a now iconic scene. Naturally, TikTok has turned it into a viral challenge that has some podiatrists concerned about its dangers.
Folks participating in this particular trend have been attempting to recreate the scene by posing up on their toes and taking a few carefully balanced steps forward, with TV personality Chrissy Teigen even getting in on the fun (albeit on Instagram). Watch a few clips below.
Dr. Jodi R. Schoenhaus at Foot, Ankle & Leg Vein Center in Florida warns against the risk of injury while attempting the challenge over a prolonged period of time. “If someone attempts the pose once or twice, they will likely be ok and produce a great TikTok video,” she said in a statement. “However, if attempting the...

“Barbie” director Greta Gerwig has a good reason why she chose not to use CGI on Margot Robbie’s feet.
Robbie had the internet talking after stepping out of her high heels and still having an arched foot in the trailer.
As the pair recently appeared on Australian talk show “The Project” to discuss the eagerly anticipated flick, Robbie’s feet in the teaser came up in discussion.
Gerwig insisted, “There was a big discussion at the beginning… Everyone said, ‘Are you going to CGI all the feet?’ And I thought, ‘Oh god! That’s terrifying! No, that’s a nightmare.’
“And [Margot] has the nicest feet. She has these beautiful dancer feet. I was like ‘she should just hang onto that bar and do it just like this.'”

Margot Robbie is a native of Australia, but that didn’t prevent her from forgetting that the title of her new movie has a very different meaning Down Under.
While promoting “Barbie”, Robbie appeared alongside director Greta Gerwig on Aussie talk show “The Project”, when the show’s co-host pointed out that the word “barbie” may refer to the iconic doll, but also has a second meaning to Australians.
“What does it mean here?” Robbie asked, leading to several people in the studio reminding her that it’s slang for barbecue.

In the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated “Barbie” film adaptation, one of the biggest plot points is the central Barbie doll (played by Margot Robbie) suddenly losing her trademark arched feet, to the horror of the other Barbies in Barbie Land. But that moment almost became horrifying for completely different reasons, as the executives in charge of the film nearly considered using CGI on the actors’ feet — before Gerwig quickly squashed the idea.
Gerwig spoke about making the film during an interview on the Australian talk show “The Project” (via Variety). During the interview, she spoke about how she made the arched foot scene that opens the trailer happen, revealing that she shut down discussions of using CGI on Robbie or the rest of the actors playing Barbie early on.

During a recent interview with Australia’s Channel 10 talk show The Project, Australia-born Margot Robbie had a brief home-country memory slip while promoting Warner Bros’ upcoming Barbie in which she plays the titular character.
When The Project co-host Sam Taunton mentioned that the word “barbie” doesn’t always refer to the iconic doll in Oz, Robbie asked, “What does it mean here?” Shocked, others in the studio exclaimed, “A barbecue!”
Robbie blurted out “Oh!,” as she covered her face amid lots of good-natured laughter. Robbie explained her momentary lapse saying, “I’m so Barbie now, I can’t even… You’re right, a barbie, having a barbie.” She added, “I’m blaming the jet lag, by the way. Don’t blame the blonde hair, blame the jet lag.”

The trailer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie begins with Margot Robbie’s titular character quite literally stepping into the real world with her feet still arched from her high heels. As we now know, the actor filmed the shot with the assistance of a bar located off-camera, but only after Gerwig shut down an early pitch to use CGI.

The much-maligned “Cats” movie musical caused the internet to lose its mind after a visual effects editor on the film confirmed that CGI was used to add buttholes to all of the feline characters. The “butthole cut,” as it became known on social media, was ultimately scrapped by the studio. It’s now been revealed that the upcoming “Barbie” movie flirted with its own potential CGI disaster, as writer-director Greta Gerwig shut down early discussions that would’ve had her actors sporting CGI feet since Barbie is known for her arched heels.

For the cast, Maíllo recruited Oscar-level talent in “Cold War” star Tomasz Kot and Spanish actress Marta Nieto,...

Two years ago, Lindsay Ell released The Continuum Project, a song-for-song remake of John Mayer’s 2006 album The Continuum. It was an ambitious release that initially sprouted out of a studio and songwriting exercise before widening in scope, but it pales in comparison to the lofty concept underpinning the Canadian singer-songwriter-guitarist’s new release, Heart Theory. The 12-track album, on which Ell co-wrote 11 of the songs, was produced by Dann Huff and goes headlong into self-care as it tracks the seven stages of grief — a psychological framework first developed by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.

Country singer-songwriter Lindsay Ell will go high-concept with her newly announced second album, Heart Theory. The LP, the follow-up to Ell’s 2017 debut, The Project, will be released August 14th.
Consisting of 12 new songs, Heart Theory explores the seven stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, testing, and acceptance. Ell penned all but one of the songs, drawing on personal experiences, and finished it at a distance during quarantine with producer Dann Huff. Chicago native Nadine Velazquez currently stars on History Channel's Six as Jackie Ortiz, the sassy and independent-minded wife of Buddha, a member of Navy Seal Team Six.
The show was recently picked up for a 10 episode second season. Velazquez's other credits include Sophia on Fxx's The League, Catalina on NBC's My Name is Earl and Emma Rios on TNT's Major Crimes.
She's also starred in films opposite Denzel Washington (Flight) and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Snitch).
We had an opportunity to speak with Nadine about her role as Jackie, women's issues and her upcoming charity project, the Total Beauty Project.
If you haven't yet seen the show (what are you waiting for?!), you'll know that Jackie, like the rest of the Seal wives, is a strong, family-oriented woman who doesn't tolerate much of anything from her husband, Buddha.
It's one of the things that attracted Velazquez to the role.

They’re one of Hollywood’s cutest couples — but Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds enjoy family life far away from the lights of Los Angeles.
The couple, who married in September 2012, have a cozy country life with their two daughters at their idyllic home in Bedford, New York — spending time running errands in town, horseback riding, dining at local restaurants and hosting holiday gatherings in their backyard.
They purchased the property, valued at more than $2 million, in January 2012 after just six months of dating. The affluent town is also home to Ralph Lauren, Bruce Willis, and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

We all remember when then-couple Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears showed up to the American Music Awards in 2001 wearing head-to-toe denim, and it sounds like Justin hasn't stopped thinking about it, either. While promoting Trolls in Australia this week, Justin stopped by the talk show The Project and was asked, "What have you learned about the industry that you didn't know when you were in *Nsync that you know now?" After a beat, he replied, "If you wear denim on denim, it will get documented. You know what, I don't think I could even bring that back." About the look (which he and Britney wore 15 years ago but somehow seems like just yesterday), Justin added, "I'm going to go out on a limb and say if it's worn properly, denim on denim could be [brought back]." When asked who he thinks could pull the look off now, he quipped, "Not Donald Trump.

It’s less of a thing now, but in the 1980s and 1990s, major blockbusters were sometimes accompanied by a making-of book. Sure, these tended to be quite glossy and promotional, but they also had to fill 100-200 pages with something. And in the case of Batman & Robin, one of 1997’s two notorious blockbuster flops (Speed 2 being the other), Michael Singer penned a 128 page guide to what was supposed to be the biggest film of the year.
It’s interesting, too, digging in far more detail than you might expect into the technical details. Here are 25 of the things that we found out from reading it…

We immediately knew why Chris Hemsworth was casted to play hammer-wielding Thor when his older brother, Luke, shared a group photo that put Chris' huge bicep on display, but now we know the truth behind that now-famous photo arm. Chris made our jaws drop with the size of his bicep—it really was that enormous—but in an interview with Australia's The Project, the Aussie actor revealed it was nothing more than a bit of trickery; he thanked "Photoshop, lighting and certain angles" for bestowing him with muscle mania. There’s been a fun theory bouncing around the internet for a while which surmises that all of Quentin Tarantino’s movies are part of a single continuity. The theory states that all of the characters that the writer has created inhabit the same world, or at least did throughout time. Now the writer and director has been directly asked about the theory and he’s confirmed that it’s true. Mostly. Quentin Tarantino was in Australia doing promotional work for The Hateful Eight alongside two of the film’s stars Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell. On the television show The Project, he was asked about the "Tarantino Cinematic Universe" and confirmed that most of his films do take place in the same world; the only exception being the movies that are too over the top, even for Tarantino’s hyperrealistic ...

His decorated body of work has long been the subject of intense scrutiny, praise and adulation, whether it’s his genre-mashing Pulp Fiction or, more recently, a barnstorming Civil War thriller in the vein of The Hateful Eight. But do all of Quentin Tarantino‘s movies exist in the same universe? The answer to that question is a resounding yes, according to the director himself.
Speculation that the Tarantino-verse was real first came to light when Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction‘s Vincent Vega shared a surname, only for the filmmaker to confirm later that the pair are actually brothers. But the connections – subtle though they may be – run deeper than that.
When quizzed about the possibility by The Project, Tarantino confirmed that there lies a “realer than real” universe underpinning his film catalog. “So From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, they all take place in this special movie universe,...

For decades, dozens of fan theories have circulated on the connectivity of Quentin Tarantino’s movies, suggesting that the master filmmakers movies are all part of a bigger tapestry. Many believe all his movies, and not just those that he has directed, inhabit the same universe with disparate characters been revealed to be connected to each other in some way, most famously Vic Vega from Reservoir and Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction being brothers. Tarantino himself has pretty much kept away from the debate until, but now, speaking on Australian news show The Project yesterday, he has revealed that those theories weren’t exactly wrong, they were just thinking a bit too small. You see, the man hasn’t cultivated just one universe in his movies, he has cultivated two. We’ll let him explain: There is actually two separate universes. There is the realer than real universe, alright. And...

This week's "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," the third film based on the young adult book series by Suzanne Collins, is ridiculously anticipated. Part of it is finding out what the resolution will be for the cliffhanger that ended the last film, last year's sleek "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," another part of it is getting to watch one of the last performances by the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman (who was almost done with his role when overdosing earlier this year), but most of it has to do with the characters that audiences have grown to love -- and the actors who inhabit those characters.
We were invited to the press conference over the weekend, where just about everybody was in attendance (Willow Shields, Geoffrey Wright, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, Natalie Dormer, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin and, of course, Jennifer Lawrence), and got the inside skinny on the film from the stars themselves.

To Fund or Not to Fund takes a look at new or interesting Kickstarter projects and determines whether they're worth pledging to or if it's smarter to save money for the next "next big project" on Kickstarter. The Project: That Dragon, Cancer is an adventure game more concerned with conveying its story and themes than supplying the player with traditional goals and objectives. Dragon tells the story of Joel, an infant and later toddler who battles with the titular dragon, cancer, for four years.

We Are Darren and Riley, a small web comedy series about two struggling comedians, is enjoying a growing online following after launching online last month.
The ten-part series tracks Darren and Riley (Darren Low and Riley Nottingham) as they navigate the perilous world of breaking into TV comedy.
The real-life long-time friends, who have known each other from childhood, originally conceptualised the series as a TV sketch comedy but decided to head down the digital route after feedback from their pilot suggested it was better suited to the web.
The decision was then made to keep the episodes short and sweet . around three to five minutes each . and released every week on Wednesday evenings.
It is a gamble that appears to have paid off with the duo enjoying considerable online attention given their previous anonymity.
