Good start

I am glad to see them finally do a story about one of the most unsung Lawmen of the old West. There is enough ambiguity about his life to allow for plenty of storytelling to make the show more exciting and interesting. The truth is, the Wild West was not so wild as Hollywood portrays, but there are some great stories.

Bass Reeves was one of the smartests most successful lawmen to meet justice in the old west and its nice for them to finally tell the story so others can enjoy it. I will not drop any spoilers but I will just say they kept to his origin story as closely as possible while making it maybe a bit more exciting than it was. The choices of actors in this show is brilliant and David Oyelowo shows his acting chops with a wide range of emotions. Top notch.

Lets hope this show remains excellent.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode started to pick up and started to get going in the last 20 minutes or so, but it really dragged on for awhile. I get that Taylor Sheridan is very slow with his pacing and wants to lock viewers into the setting and the time before really bringing story to the forefront, but this was not the right move here, even if this just ends up being a miniseries and not something renewed.

I will watch, but it almost feels like it is out of loyalty to Paramount+ and this genre than anything great about it. It can be good, but this was just too slow-moving for me and I was hoping for more off the bat.
