Incomplete biased story
neerhem-0108825 May 2022
The story here recycles the idea that modesty equals lack of freedom. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea but this story just presents it as a problem with no development or resolution. It's simply a biased political short. Regardless of what message the directors were trying to convey, this short lacks any form of closure which makes me question what the point of the short was in the first place. Other than just worsening the Western stereotype against Muslim girls and women...

Nice one

Deals with a complicated issue in a meaningful way. At times, it felt rushed. It could use like 5 more minutes. Reminded me of my childhood. It made me cry so bad by the end.

Beautiful movie!

The short is very subtle and overall does what it needs to do very efficiently. Wish it was longer though. The performances were strong enough. Overall I enjoyed the short a lot.

please continue this story

This story was beautifully told, filmed and acted. Please consider making it into a longer piece. I am cheering for both Samah and her mother in the meantime.

Young woman's struggle for freedom
scottmaton-hus20 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The short starts in the dressing room of a bathing suit shop where we find a young woman with her mother. We are immediately introduced that the mother is is attempting to brainwash the young girl in the traditions of a male dominated society where women must hide their hair. The mother does not seem to realize that she is raising her child in the United States, where women are equal to men and not second class citizens. The daughter defies the mother and wears a bathing suit that does not hide her hair in an obvious attempt to free herself from her male cultural bondage.
