I love the show but my god this was horrible. They really should've canceled this episode. I feel bad for Paul Rudd, he should've had a better welcoming to the 5-timers club.

Love the show, but this sucked

Why would they not just cancel the episode?

Why even try to have a new episode when you can't have live sketches due to COVID? I'm assuming someone in the cast came down with it or something. Just say that and cancel the episode. What they did instead ended up being so awkward and horribly not entertaining. I'm all for being COVID-safe and I get they're trying to say they're doing this for safety reasons. But the safest thing would've been to just cancel the episode.
2022 is too far away and already over rated

Tonight's show exemplifies the crazy selfishness of the past 2 years. Nothing against this episode... They worked with what little they had to work with, millionth Covid variant wise. I think NY is shut down for the 5th or 50th time . AGAIN, we are back to conspiracy-lovers stomping their feet "We want our way dang it"!!...Don't Vax even if that kills all of us... Well Not " All of Us", just old sick people and others WE don't see the need for. I hope SNL will devote an entire episode to self adsorbed 21st century hypocrites, but in a completely sarcastic 1970's way.
They chose poorly

It was very unfortunate that they decided to continue to put on the show instead of canceling it. I love Paul Rudd and I really wanted him to have an awesome episode but it was just a mess. On the plus side with them not having an audience, they could cover up the fact that no one would be laughing at some of those jokes if there was a crowd.
A non-episode

I completely understand the circumstances of this episode were difficult for SNL...so why do it at all?
Truly, this was like a non-episode of SNL. A few pre-recorded bits mixed in with old filler. An awful decision to even air this.
Here would have been a much better idea: Show the "filler" holiday episode meant for Christmas on the 18th, then use the following week to pre-record all the new content, and show that on Xmas.
Instead, we got.."something". We got a chance for Tina Fey to yuck it up on camera and remind us she exists. Oh goody! Merry Christmas to us all!

Shouldn't Have Happened

This shouldn't even be considered an episode. Two cast members showed up. No live sketches. Some of the pre-taped stuff maybe wouldn't have even made the live show. Old clips interspersed throughout. The show should've just canceled and aired a holiday special.
This Was Just Embarrassing

Warning: Spoilers
Much like everyone else, when it was announced that Paul Rudd would be hosting this week, I was beyond thrilled, but this is far from what I expected. Paul Rudd is one of the most hilarious people in Hollywood and his comedic talents were absolutely wasted in this sad and depressing excuse for a Christmas episode. This episode was so bad that I would have rather been watching the At Home version of "Saturday Night Live", and that's really saying something because I HATED the At Home episodes! Every sketch here is prerecorded. It is a mashup of a few new sketches and classic sketches. The new sketches are utter garbage. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that Paul Rudd deserved a better induction into the five timers club than this monstrosity!
