A Brief Synopsis of Purity
junko-hama122 August 2012
I found this film to be, singularly, the most influential film noir of our generation. Not only is it progressive in nature for its views on premarital sex, but it stands against mainstream shows such as Teen Mom that glorify the loss of virginity at an early age. I especially appreciated the female protagonist, played by the eternally talented Alexandra DiNovi, who was portrayed as both strong and yet vulnerable at the same time. The sexual undertones allude to the protagonist's struggle of fending off men during her early high school life while still appreciating the companionship of an overly emotional male, who may or may not be addicted to vodka, in her later years. I can only hope this talented actresses' future endeavors are as respectable as her first foray into the industry. More importantly, I hope she continues to represent Lake Shore Drive (the location of her condo in Chicago) and the city itself while maintaining humility throughout her career.
