Sofia Coppola is opening up about two movies that she turned down.
The famed 52-year-old director has worked on projects such as Marie Antoinette, Lost in Translation and, most recently, Priscilla, which stars Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny as Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
While she’s got some big projects to her name, Sofia opted out of directing a Little Mermaid movie. She also passed on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. She explained why in a recent interview.
Read more about Sofia Coppola’s decision…
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Sofia explained that she hit a “breaking point” with the Little Mermaid movie, which should not be confused with Disney’s new live-action The Little Mermaid, which starred Halle Bailey.
“I was in a boardroom and some development guy said, ‘What’s gonna get the 35-year-old man in the audience?’ And I just didn’t know what to say,...

Sofia Coppola, famously known for directing films like Lost in Translation, On the Rocks, and soon, the already-controversial biopic Priscilla, is opening up about projects she’s allowed to fall to the wayside. Typically associated with high-brow dramas and clever comedies, Coppola’s name is enough to catch the eye of most cinephiles, but it’s the quality of her work that truly speaks for her talents behind the camera.
Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival in September to a seven-and-a-half-minute standing ovation, celebrating the filmmaker’s emotional portrayal of Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s complex relationship. While discussing the upcoming film with Rolling Stone, Coppola shared stories about projects she passed on for one reason or another, including the final chapter of the Twilight franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and a version of The Little Mermaid.

Taylor Lautner said his perspective on the Twilight franchise and the fame he received from the films has changed over time.
During a recent interview on The Happy Hour on Today Show Radio, the actor said that while now he only has “fond memories” of his experiences while filming the movies, he also thinks that he “needed the space.”
Lautner was a teenager when the first film debuted in 2008. The franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novels, went on to spawn a total of five films, with the last one, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, premiering in 2012. Lautner starred as Jacob Black, a werewolf competing with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) for Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) heart.
The Twilight Saga, which quickly became a worldwide phenomenon and grossed more than $3 billion at the box office, launched the films’ leads into stardom, something that Lautner said took time to process.

At long last, “Twilight” is coming to television. Lionsgate TV is in early development on a new adaptation of author Stephanie Meyers’ best-selling saga, according to media reports.
Little is known about the “Twilight” TV show. The project is in early stages with no network or streamer attached. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, “Tell Me Lies” and “The Get Down” writer Sinead Daly is attached to pen the script. There also isn’t a timeline for the project at the moment. Lionsgate TV plans to lead development on the series before shopping the rights to the package. The Twilight Saga ran its course on the big screen, with five movies telling the story of the four books in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. While there are some side stories and reimaginings that could still be brought to the screen, the main tale has been told. Now ten and a half years have gone by since the release of the last film in the franchise… and that means the story is ripe for a re-telling. That’s clearly what Lionsgate Television believes, anyway, as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that a Twilight TV series is in development!
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the Twilight TV series is in its infancy and does not yet have a network/platform or a writer as sources say the studio, which controls the rights to the franchise, plans to lead the development on the project before shopping the rights to the package.

"Are you team Edward or team Jacob?" If part of your middle school and high school years revolved around asking your friends this controversial question, you're probably familar with the film origins of Taylor Lautner, who split the "Twilight" fandom in two when he made his debut as teenage werewolf Jacob Black in 2008. In the nearly 14 years since the film first premiered, Lautner has remained a cultural icon for his performance as the shapeshifting teen. While longtime Twihards still reminisce about Jella fan fiction and Lautner's lengthy hair (it was a wig the whole time), the film franchise took a mental and emotional toll on the star that pushed him to step back from Hollywood.

Before heading into the event, Pattinson dished exclusively to E! News about another film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, which was released five years ago this month. "It's all fond memories," Pattinson told us about filming the movies. "I mean it's almost more fond the further away you get from it...it's just such a magical way to spend your 20s." There may only be 16 days left in 2016, but one of the most anticipated movies of the year is only just hitting theaters this weekend. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will begin holding preview screenings tonight before setting its sights on what could end up the largest opening weekend of the year. Also hitting theaters this weekend is Will Smith's sentimental, holiday weeper Collateral Beauty to go along with the expansion of La La Land, which had the largest opening weekend per theater average of the year last weekend, and the nationwide expansion of Manchester by the Sea into over 1,200 theaters.

The next 2015 blockbuster is upon us. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 marks the final installment in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novels and looks to become the first $100+ million opener since Minions back in July. Joining the pre-Thanksgiving fray is the Secret in Their Eyes remake and The Night Before starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie. Meanwhile, Spectre hopes to maintain some kind of a foothold as audience competition heats up. Ending any kind of made up suspense, yes, Mockingjay 2 will become 2015's fifth $100+ million opener. Part 1 opened with $121.8 million last year and Part 2 should be in that same vicinity this year. The plus-minus, however, is up for debate. The first Hunger Games opened with $152.5 million back in 2012 and Catching Fire topped that by six million a year-and-a-half later and still holds the November opening weekend record with $158 million. Mockingjay - Part 1 was unable to match that,...

Spectre's $70.4 million opening last weekend was the seventh largest of 2015 and this weekend it faces little to no incoming competition. The week's new wide releases include the Chilean miner drama The 33, the Christmas-themed family feature Love the Coopers and the period, football drama My All American. Not one of these three new wide releases will be threatening the top two spots at the box office, which means the second weekend of Spectre and The Peanuts Movie draw the majority of our attention. Starting with Spectre, the first instinct is to look to Skyfall's second weekend back in 2012. After a monster opening, Skyfall dropped 53.5% in the face of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2's $141 million opening weekend. Quantum of Solace dropped 60% when it faced off, and took second to, the first Twilight film back in 2008. Twilight, however, isn't exactly direct competition. Taking that into consideration, it would suggest those weekend...

'Sinister 2' poster. 'American Ultra,' 'Hitman: Agent 47' and 'Sinister 2': Weekend box office bombs American Ultra, Hitman: Agent 47, and Sinister 2 are the new entries at the North American box office this weekend, Aug. 21-23, '15. All three of them are expected to underperform – with American Ultra having a particularly disastrous bow, especially for a movie starring Best Actor Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) and former Twilight star Kristen Stewart. Whether you blame it on a glut of movies targeting the same audience, a lack of major box office draws, or poor reviews, only one of the debutantes is expected to score more than $10 million at U.S. and Canadian theaters by Sunday evening. James Holmes: 'The Dark Knight Rises' shooter 'The Dark Knight Rises' mass shooter James Holmes gets life in prison James Holmes, the man who killed 12 people and injured 70 others at a July 2012 screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, in the Greater Denver area, has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole. Some had been expecting that Holmes would get the death penalty. According to Mother Jones, the jury deliberated for less than seven hours. The Aurora tragedy is one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. As of Feb. '15, pre-trial expenses in the case against James Holmes cost state taxpayers $5.5 million. The trial itself was expected to cost several million dollars more. Following the verdict, Colorado Democratic Rep. Jovan Melton tweeted about the jury's decision and the death penalty in his state: Today's verdict proves again that the Death Penalty is arbitrary.

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Here are three examples: Stewart was a U.S. soldier who befriends an inmate (Peyman Moaadi) at the American Gulag, Guantanamo, in Peter Sattler's little-seen (at least in theaters) Camp X-Ray. She was one of Best Actress Oscar winner Julianne Moore's daughters in Wash Westmoreland and the recently deceased Richard Glatzer's Alzheimer's drama Still Alice. She was the personal assistant to troubled, aging actress Juliette Binoche in Olivier Assayas' Clouds of Sils Maria, which earned her a history-making Best Supporting Actress César. American Ultra stars Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg will be reunited later this year in another project: Woody Allen's next as yet untitled feature. Bruce Willis is the third cast member whose name has been publicly announced. The source for this information is an "exclusive" report via Deadline.com's Mike Fleming Jr. So far, as Fleming explains in his brief piece, Woody Allen and "his people" haven't confirmed the casting. In other words, things could change in the not-too-distant future. See also: Kristen Stewart Joins Kelly Reichardt Movie Project, also featuring Laura Dern and Michelle Williams. Unsurprisingly, no plot details about the upcoming Woody Allen project have been forthcoming. In fact, one wonders if Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, and Bruce Willis – in case they have indeed joined the fold – know what the movie is going to be about. Allen's latest collaborators – Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson – will be producing the film.

British pop star Ellie Goulding hasn't had a proper album released since 2012, but since then the artist has appeared on the soundtracks to "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," "The Host," "About Time," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "Divergent," and, perhaps most memorably, over the closing credits to stone cold masterpiece "Spring Breakers." Her latest contribution to her ever-growing soundtrack compendium is a new track for the hotly anticipated "Fifty Shades of Grey," opening on February 13th.
The track, an unbelievably catchy number called "Love Me Like You Do," has an accompanying music video and said music video features ballroom dancing, Goulding walking around in a black leather jacket, and, oh yeah, brand new footage from the movie (starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan). Don't worry, it's totally safe for work. The soundtrack, which also features cuts from The Weeknd, Annie Lennox, and Sia, will be out on February 10th.

Kristen Stewart has been going down a different path ever since the final installment of the Twilight series. After taking a quick break following the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, she has been appearing in smaller films such as Camp X-Ray, Clouds of Sils Maria, and most recently Still Alice (alongside Julianne Moore who just nabbed an Oscar nom for Best Actress). But, despite Stewart.s time down indie film row, she won.t leave bigger budget films out of the picture completely, and claims she would love to play a role in a Marvel movie, specifically Captain America. With all the hate that Stewart sometimes gets, she shouldn.t be underestimated. The actress is only 24 years old and already has 33 film credits ranging in genre and bringing in a whole lot of money. So when Stewart admits interest in something, it is not such...
