A fun if problematic cheesy creature feature
kannibalcorpsegrinder20 November 2022
After a series of savage animal attacks, the sheriff of a small Louisiana town believes that a wild alligator is loose in the sewers and gathers a crew of hunters and experts to track the creature down and kill it before it rampages through the community killing everyone it comes across.

This was a pretty decent enough genre effort. One of the film's better efforts here is the rather strong and enjoyable element of cheese throughout here which carries along quite heavily. The idea of the film coming along within a series of highly obvious and unapologetic riffs on numerous genre films means this piles the absurdity on as if a parody of those films with a decidedly over-the-top cheesy charm evident throughout. Not just the generally straightforward nature of the storyline but also the hilarious in-jokes about the situation as well as the characters in the environment, the whole situation here comes off with a delightful mocking nature which is endearing enough over time. That carries over into the action involved in the attacks featured here which manages to capture some of the cheesier elements of the style while still enjoying the cheesy antics featured here which makes this quite likable and enjoyable. That said, taken as a serious film, there are a few issues here. The main factor with this one is the potentially polarizing setup which could very easily be a distraction and detriment for those that aren't appreciative of the style. Those that are looking for more of a competent and coherent take on the style would be highly disappointed if not outright put off looking at plastic alligator toys or the constantly-changing size of the creatures in the numerous attacks that are passed off as the real creatures in the attacks. That can be a big turn-off, much like the kind of parody humor on display that isn't always funny but also manages to highlight the last remaining flaw in the excessively brief running time. That this barely runs an hour-long without much going for it beyond the parody nature of the storyline and the potentially unfunny comedy featured here might leave the film feeling overlong at the same time as highlighting the lack of storyline present to keep it this short. It's the main feature here holding this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Wow, SOOO Bad

Ok,. I can actually understand the 'low budget' drama students creating a movie for their class project getting to the free streaming services, but at least they get actors with at least SOME talent in their 'made by iPhone' movies, but Sewer Gators didn't even do that. Surprisingly they had slightly better quality equipment, but a whole lot less quality in front of the lens. Wow, I can't even get past the 'acting' to even comment on the lack of a script, content, or even cinematography. If you can sit through the entire movie without hitting the bottle SEVERAL times, I have a simple suggestion for you. GET A FREAKING LIFE.

So Much Fun!

Oh, man! I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a long time!!

Sewer Gators just came out this summer and is hilariously bad! Alligators are in the sewers and are coming up in people's toilets to eat them. And then bathtubs, washing machines, faucets, and even sprinkler systems! 😆

They obviously had a small budget so they made it campy on purpose. It's not a comedy, but I'm laughing my head off. I've never seen so many rubber alligators before!! 😂 The acting, cinematography, effects, and everything are so bad it's funny! They even have a shoutout to Quinn's job offer from Jaws, with a guy "scraping" his nails on a whiteboard! 😃

It's only an hour long and it's freakin' hilarious! And no nudity, no gore (well, there's some ketchup!), and hardly any language. Just fake alligator violence. I totally recommend it!

You'll Never Go to the Bathroom Alone. Again.

As a lover of B Movies, "Sewer Gators" is pure gold. It's got cheese, it's got humor. It also has some pretty good music and NatGeo-esque films of real gators.

I laughed out loud several times through the movie. Whoever wrote this mashed together an amateur creature feature with the silly 80's style humor. Some humor is subtle in the background and other jokes are right in your face.

I wouldn't take a first date to see this movie or recommend it for family movie night. But I'd definitely recommend it to people who like B movies, high school and college students, or anyone a couple of beers into a six-pack of Natural Light.

This piece of art is exceptionally well done given the most likely budget of $500. This would be so fun to see in a theater.
