This is one of the many extras on the Ultimate 2 Disc Edition DVD version of Iron Man. It's a comedy piece, presented, as, I believe, everything by The Onion is, as though it were an actual news story. While I'll admit that I've not read or watched much by them, I do feel confident in declaring that they are significantly talented satirists. And this is a great example of why.
It's kind of a one-joke premise, at 2 and a half minutes doesn't outstay its welcome, and it works because the material and performances are strong. Poking fun at the passionate response to the trailer, as though it was the final film. It's of course impossible to judge the latter from the former - at best, it's giving an idea of it. Editing something down to that extent makes it a lot easier to avoid anything in it being disappointing. Pacing, themes, development of plot and characters, none of this can be determined from a preview. They talk about it as if the upcoming product is a sequel, spin-off or the like. They cover common complaints about big blockbusters.
I recommend this to any fan of the movie. 8/10
