I Hope It Settles Down
Hitchcoc4 July 2023
I did enjoy the episode, but it's time to fish or cut bait. She rambles around like a nut, antagonizing everyone, expecting to gain points when she is dealing with people who play by the rules. The rules may be wrong, but inroads are important. So in this one we throw in the Vice Presidency and the world gets more complicated than a potential start of World War 3. I too found the fight at the end to be way too much, but I wouldn't put aside the political issues an issue like female-male abuse. This marriage is very complicated. I'm hoping that there will be less in-fighting between the two, or I may put it on the shelf. One big question: Could a person so emotionally unstable handle the presidency should it fall in her lap?

This is the stuff you wait for.

What a great hour of TV. Smart, sharp, provocative and prescient.

It bumps you around but it doesn't push you around. The characters are extremely well drawn. Vivid, believable and thoroughly enjoyable and very fresh.

It has the intelligence of the West Wing and the urgency of Homeland, two of my favorite shows, which only makes sense considering the creator worked on both of those series.

I was drawn in with the first two episodes but episode three "Lambs in the Dark" pushed it into a whole new gear.

I'm only three episodes in and I'd give the Diplomat a strong 8 so far but this episode gets a ten!

I do have to say I wish series these days weren't so damn short. Especially when they're this good. I guess eight episodes is better than six.

Keep up the good work.

Shocked by marital violence

Warning: Spoilers
The show is interesting and I am enjoying watching it by I am absolutely shocked by the violent assault by Kate Wyler against her husband Hal. Wow - punching him in the face and then viciously attacking him! Is that "female empowerment"? That is far more than being TOXIC. Is this the example we want to give young women?

What is Hal supposed to do? He cannot fight back even though he should.

Please do not normalize female against male violence such as this. We do not need this. Kate is just showing herself to be an emotionally unstable female and that is not good - especially if she is to be a diplomat.

Debora Cahn, is this what you fantasize about?

Shameful.

Episode 3

Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure how many more episodes they can do with the whole gang just sitting around the castle in the middle of England, but I guess this show is going to try and go for the record with it.

The series definitely gets in the weeds of politics and takes an in-depth look at the repercussions. Not sure if that makes for the most compelling TV, but this is their vision and you have to appreciate it.

The show remains solid, but I feel like we need something a little different. Every single scene in every single episode plays out exactly the same so far with The Diplomat, which could make binging it tough.

Why is female violence against men still regarded as funny?
znyjwgwqk3 July 2023
Entertaining but not great. The series writers make every effort to promote and support current politically correct ideology but for the most part don't slap you in the face with it.

So it was quite a shock when the writers try to create a comedy of a woman being violent against a man she is mad at.

There was a time when seeing someone tied to a tree and whipped was fun. Thankfully we no longer regard it as such because we have evolved and grown up. But why is it still okay for a female to use violence against a male? And present it as being funny? The writers, and those who allowed this to be aired should be ashamed of themselves.
