Sex & Nudity

  • Boys call a girl their 'squaw".

Violence & Gore

  • A girl falls off the trailer of a tractor and is run over. Blood is seen trickling down the wheel and surrounding the girl's broken toy gun.
  • A boy drowns in a pit of cow manure while calling for Danny to save him.
  • A girl drinks Paraquat (rat poison) and later on screams for her mother as the poison destroys her internal organs (off-screen).
  • A boy falls down a hill while riding on some farm equipment, and is crushed to death.
  • A boy is killed by a fallen steel frame; blood is seen and his neck is broken.
  • Several of the kids play a game of cowboys and indians and pretend to shoot each other.
  • The end of the film shows a list of real kids and gives off the ways they have died.

Profanity

  • Not too much profanity.
  • One boy shouts "watch your ass".
  • Several racial slurs are made in the children's game of cowboys and indians which were acceptable at the time of filming but are no longer appropriate.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One boy discusses how he likes adult parties because the adults get drunk and give him money while they dance around.
  • A group of kids pass around a bottle of Paraquat and pretend it's moonshine.
  • A boy mentions how at funerals, all the adults always drink a lot, which he thinks they should do at the pub.
  • Several bottles of booze are seen in shots.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Though this film is listed as a "comedy drama" on IMDB, it is in a P.S.A. style and is heavily unsettling, mainly the deaths of the children and the grief shown by the parents but their failure to prevent further deaths. Many users have stated in reviews that the scene with Sharon dying in her home is frightening and gave them nightmares as children themselves.
