The Nation's Favourite ABBA Song
jboothmillard3 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the Bee Gees programme as I knew most of their popular songs, so I was interested to know how many of the tracks from this highly popular band would appear in what order in a countdown, and those songs I may have missed. ABBA (an acronym of the band members' first names), consisting of Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, were on of the greatest bands in the genre of pop and disco music, especially during the 1970's and early 1980's, and this show counted down the best songs they have given us, as voted for by the public. Of course if you saw them on the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, representing their home country of Sweden, and you are a fan of the musical or film Mamma Mia!, all the best songs featured in it are listed as well. The listed songs are: "Ring Ring", "Head Over Heels", "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do", "Money, Money, Money", "Under Attack", "Voulez-Vous", "Does Your Mother Know", "Summer Night City", "Waterloo" - their winning Eurovision song, "Super Trouper", "S.O.S.", "Lay All Your Love On Me", "I Have A Dream" - also performed by Westlife, "Take A Chance On Me" - also performed by Erasure, "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" - sampled by Madonna for her song "Hung Up", "Chiquitita", "The Name Of The Game", "One Of Us", "Fernando", "Mamma Mia", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Thank You For The Music", "The Day Before You Came", "Dancing Queen", and a good number one with "The Winner Takes It All". Narrated by Kate Thornton, with contributions from Michael Ball, Pierce Brosnan, Westlife's Nicky Byrne, Richard Curtis, Westlife's Shane Filan, Robin Gibb, film director Lasse Hallström (What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Cider House Rules, Dear John) who directed some of the band's videos, Adam Hills, Amanda Holden, Dame Kelly Holmes, Konnie Huq, Ulrika Jonsson, The Saturdays' Mollie King, Pixie Lott, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Dermot O'Leary, Martine McCutcheon, Joe McEldery, Kate Nash, Nicole Scherzinger, Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears, Meryl Streep, Chris Tarrant, Björn Ulvaeus, Louis Walsh, Julie Walters, Pete Waterman, Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams and Sir Terry Wogan. Very good!
