Felt like a series finale

Sadly, all loose ends are tied up in a nice little bow, as is done in a great series finale. DV got what she desired & worked for. I can't imagine a way forward, but I do hope HBO surprises me. Amazing series!

Great episode!

Such a great ending episode! I cried. I laughed. And I wish it could be way longer!

It's been a while since I constantly anticipating a show to drop each weeks. The writing and acting for this show is just incredible! Bravo for two great seasons! Can't wait for the third one!

We will miss you Ms Deborah Vance

One the most satisfying finales. I fell in love with this show from episode one and it's mostly thanks to Jean Smart's fantastic performance. She brought Deborah's character to life in ways that I personally won't forget despite the show being over, for now.... I am not sure whether they're planning for a 3rd season, but if they can put out another season as strong as this one I'd be beside myself.

Goodbye stranger it's been nice ...

Deborah gets leverage over Marty to finally get her special and Ava must decide whether to support her or pluck up courage to follow her own dreams.

A beautiful bittersweet ending to a fabulous season, neatly wrapping up loose ends in lawsuits, careers and relationships. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder have again been magnificent both individually and in mutually crafting, developing and cementing the bond between these two distinctive women.

A fabulous place to leave the show going out on a high, though it certainly warrants a third outing.

Warning: Spoilers
Just wanted to share that this is the first time I've ever had a bit of a cry when a moment ended... Wow- this show and these performances have all felt so perfect. Thank You for the team who created this series. I didn't know this was the last episode until the last scene and music as the credits began to roll, and I just started to cry. Happy tears, but just a great series. Cheers!

Is that it?

I didn't realize I was watching the finale. But half way through the episode the stories felt crammed and suddenly it was over. Poor editing. But I'm glad everyone has a happy ending. I really hope there is a season 3. Jean Smart is such a treasure.

Season Two Review
southdavid7 April 2023
I finished season one of "Hacks" back in January and really liked it, so cracked straight on into the second run, which I also liked quite a bit - and even managed to turn me around on my least favourite character.

Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) decides that although the show didn't go well, there was enough in the confessional style show that she's going to take it on the road and workshop it, ahead of a triumphant return to Las Vegas. She convinces Ava (Hannah Einbinder) to accompany her and though things are going well, the ill-conceived, drunken, email that Ava sent detailing Deborah's foibles and vices hangs over her like the sword of Damocles.

There's no massive overhaul of the format for this second season of "Hacks", but then again one wasn't really required. It's still a funny and enjoyable series and I really liked my time with it. I'm glad that the email storyline doesn't hang over Ava for the whole series, as it comes out pretty quickly. It's a little sweeter overall than the previous season, with Deborah and Ava's relationship maintaining that parental/friendship bond and the on-the-road setting allowing for less jokes about Vegas and more about America as a whole. Much of the cast from the first season does reappear though, including Poppy Liu as Kiki and Christopher McDonald. The second season has a few more guest stars though, with Susie Essman, Ming-Na Wen and Laurie Metcalf taking on significant supporting roles.

Paul Downs returns as both Deborah and Ava's agent Jimmy, which means so does Megan Stalter as Kayla, his assistant. I didn't like Kayla in the first season, as she felt like a really broad character that didn't really fit with the rest of the tone of the series. I'm not sure if I've just got used to her, but though she's not really toned down here, I thought the character worked in a lot better.

It felt like a natural place to conclude the run, although I'm quite happy that we're running on to a third season.

S1 was very funny, S2 good but lacked oompff
efd-104677 June 2022
S1 was one of the funniest comedy series for years, quick, fast lines delivered at a blinding pace, really funny, exceptionally well acted and written.

S2 is good with flashes of that comedy but with more drama added in, plus a good dose of the modern trend to throw Lesbian themes and sub plots into a story at any cost. While it was still good it lacked the punch of S1, if it goes to S3 it may be running the risk if dragging out the original premise too far.
