Near perfect if not for the disastrous ending!!
nandhini-1978425 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this series not knowing it's a BL drama, seeing the title I thought its gonna be like the ted movie or something. Initially I had a notion that's it's just a series with some gay romance. But damn!! Tofu and Nut hit different. Tofu was such a cute and loving solace for Nut who's desolate and ill-tempered. Just like how a teddy bear is to one. The idea is fascinating. The story also focused on a lot of issues with an engaging screenplay and some exceptional performances from the leads. All the characterizations were good and it was a heartwarming watch indeed. The background music was such a bliss and beautifully complemented the scenes. In the last episode things were rushed only to lead to an unsatisfying ending. Although such an ending was long anticipated I still hoped they had something in store for nut and tofu to be the endgame. But it was devastating to see when poor tofu decides to sacrifice himself as justice for Tarn. I wish the miracle of teddy bear was tofu remaining human for the rest of his life and be with nut forever and let the fate decide itself for Tarn. Yeah tofu came into existence bcuz of tarn's love for nut and all tarn wished was nut to be happy despite not ending up with him. And that wish somehow came true through the teddy bear he gifted. Isn't that teddy bear turning into a human and bring happiness in nut's miserable life by giving his love, warmth, care and everything a miracle itself? Why that miracle should ceast to exist only to bring an another so-called miracle as the story depicts? What it has to do with tarn waking up from his coma and tofu dying? Hasn't Nut already moved on from Tarn even though he missed him. He didn't even try looking for him all those years. Nut himself was reassuring tofu by choosing him over tarn everytime. The ending would have made more sense had nut weren't able to move on from Tarn and the relationship between him and tofu was just platonic. I don't see how he could get back to his ex without any reservations after being so much in love with tofu. The scene where nut cries singing in front of tofu's photo in temple just tugged at my heartstrings. Wish they've shown more of nut mourning over tofu or reminiscing his memories with him. Felt nut managed to get over tofu so soon and revive his relationship with tarn just like that. It doesn't justify the deep relationship he had with tofu. Like he wouldn't miss tofu as much as he have got his ex back in his life now. And even worse, when tarn express his wish to marry nut he immediately agrees saying "My heart already married you a long time ago" Like wtf? This dialogue felt out of place and makes his relationship he had all this time with tofu seem meaningless. Suddenly they try to prioritise the love between nut and tarn just to make the ending seem reasonable. The teddy bear bracelet tofu bought for nut which he didn't happen to give? Why that part is missed?? Although tofu turned back to his bear form he would still have feelings of a human. But it is shown poor tofu had let go of his feelings now in the name of sacrifice. All along the story tofu wanted to be with nut and vice versa. I didn't like the abrupt transition of characters be it nut or tofu. The ending was a big letdown and I could never come to terms with it. I would just like to pretend the show ended in the episode 15.

The Miracle Of A Teddy Bear
cahidi10 September 2022
When I watched the first episode, I was hoping to see some lovey-dovey fantasy story. But instead, I was hit with a cold hard truth of our everyday lives. A broken dysfunctional family, an abused and traumatized son, a mentally ill mother, a painful reminder of how my society see the LGBTQ+ community. I was about to turn it off, cause I hate being reminded of how bitter and painful the reality is. I guess in a way, this series is an ironic one, the theme is fantasy, but it shows the hurtful reality of our daily lives. I guess that's what a lot of people who have watched it find it distasteful. But this story have taught me a lot of life lessons. That's why I kept on watching it till the end and that's also why I didn't give it low ratings. You'll get much wiser after watching this series to the end. I guarantee it.

Unexpectedly wonderful!
rikzinc5 May 2022
Honestly, when the trailer came out, I didnt expect much or should I say, I wasn't quite looking forward to it. Even when it came out, I couldn't bring myself to watch it as there were so many choices out there. But, I must say, I was so wrong. This has been a wonderful and a memorable watch. The story itself is quite unique and they've put in an effort to keep it as real as possible even if the whole premise is pure fantasy. The leads and the supporting cast have all done so wonderfully to keep me glued with them. The Teddy Bear is as much an integral cast as the humans. Nut and Pa have portrayed their characters so wonderfully. The strained relationship of mother-son is so convincing. And we have Tofu (both the teddy and human), the human Tofu's dialogue delivery is just right given that he's actually a Teddy Bear. I was addicted to his 'haaa' after almost every sentence he speaks. Song and Gen were adorably addictive. Jan delivered her character very convincingly. And Saen and Sib (I don't know if they are twins IRL) both have done a great job. There are many things to learn from this series. How a family's response to a child's sexual identity impacts the child to the importance of communication in a family. I could go on and on. As much as I loved Bad Buddy (arguably the most popular BL series this year), personally, this series exceeded in terms of deliverance, especially in story department, for me. What worked for this series probably must be that people didn't have much expectation but it exceeded by leaps and bounds. I was apprehensive when I started given the probability of a happy ending, but, just like the series tells us, we have to be able to live happily without having to rely on miracles. Overall, I just loved loved loved it. To write this review itself is a testament on how much I loved it. Highly recommended!

Tohu is so cute, this is not a usual soft love story
vandanasn-0271818 May 2022
I loved this sweet and sour love story, Tohu the teddy bear is so cute and innocent just like the little prince. I like that this story is too realistic, mother son relationship is also the unique bonus of the story. I love how it focuses on domestic violence. And how Nat is not all soft toward the Tohu, he is rough and sometimes I would like to slap the Nat for it. Though I didn't liked the finale.

Fantastic
hacienda-0052015 May 2022
I watch many BL dramas, and this one exceeds all in many ways. The drama story line is rather complicated with psychological. Religious, and moral overtones. Acting, directing, editing, and photography are all first rate. Character development is well done with two of the most attractive young men as main characters that you will find anywhere. I especyally appreciated the way these actors use their eyes in their emotions. I 've never seen it done so well. The story is captivating, though sometimes drawn out to fit episodes. The story ends with tremendous emotion transferred to the viewer. Asian productions are demonstrating that they have more than matched the drama of the old Holly wood days now seemingly lost.

Very moving
karinvandervliet13 June 2022
I have been addicted to Asian drama in general, and bl drama in specific, since Covid started. But this one is special. It brings together my very favorite genres: fantasy, romance and bl. It tells a different story really well, with great chemistry between the leads, and still teaches us a lesson or two between the lines. Highly emotional at times, e.g. The time where Nut sends Tohu away because he thinks he's lying, or Gen's remark about parents being tolerant towards other people's children..... we don't get a lot of bl series in the Netherlands, same sex marriage is legal here, so I guess there seems little left to fight for. But this way of fighting, explaining why loving another person is beautiful regardless of that other persons gender, and without making it too obvious that a fight is being fought.. extremely impressive. And much needed in the world.

Great Story, Plot Twists but the Ending is soooo Disappointing and Depressing too!!
oniggino21 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love the story, its so well written but it goes off on the last 2 episodes, i really hoped for Tofu and Nut to end together but the ending is so dark and twisted, imagine Tarn will be staying there is Nut's Place and Tofu will get to see everything there, i really can't imagine the thought of that idea.

Its a real TEARJERKER and never cried so much after Grey Rainbow. All my pillows will really come alive after i cried alot just watching the whole series.

Tofu is so greatly portrayed and i love all his actions and innocent thoughts and feelings. Also the confession of her Mrs Na at the Park in Tofu while Nut is just on the other bench listening quietly, then Tofu saw him afterwards and just didn't said anything, that is so powerful moment.

If you don't want to be dissapointed, just watch it until episode 14, that should only be the ending, also some plot holes like Neung just being isolated from the story, there could be so much more to the character that was wasted opportunity to make it more complex and another twist. Twists are all good but not all Perfect for each story, the whole Journey makes it perfect but the conclusion is such a let down.

I Think Tofu deserves a happy ending, its a Fantasy so why not just stick to that? I'm so overwhelmed watching it but just skipped the whole finale after Tofu's death, seems Bland and Tasteless, all the captivating storylines was just wiped-out by the Finale/Last Episode. Its like watching Game of Thrones, you enjoyed the whole show but the Finale is so disappointing you'll forget how the whole story made you smile, loved all the characters and marveled to the great story telling!!

Ending wasn't good
The story is really good. The miracle that happened in the Nut's life changed not only his life but also his mother's and the people around him. If in real life also people could start thinking like Tofu, I guess life would have been so different and clean. But I guess not all people can think the same and live the same life. Hence we are born differently.

But about the last episode, I still can't get why he has to die so that Tarn can live. Tofu awake because Nut cried. Though Tarn was the one who gave that teddy. And didn't Tofu was the one Nut started liking, left his past life behind to live in the present with Tofu who gave him happiness again that was the moral of the story, wasn't it? And it is still a mistery why Tofu teddy had Nut's first love face when Tarn was the one that gave.

Two less star because of the ending.

Sad ending and a disappointment!
japbod22 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sad ending and a disappointment! Why did the teddy bear have to die? Also, hardly any kissing scenes and their lips were barely touching! Great acting by most of the cast and plot, but the character Nut is mostly ill-tempered and unreasonable and a stereotypical portrayal of a "sissy" and weak boy in school: a dead turn-off. Together with the other girlish character Song, the story casts gay boys and men in a very bad light. The teddy bear character Tofu is sweet and cute in comparison, but his over-the-top pinkish make-up that tries to make him look girly leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I can't stare a teddy, however cute, for more than 10 minutes
sreelekhaburla20 September 2023
I love watching all kinds of Bl, you never know if you might stumble across a good nut. But this nut was tiresome to crack. I gave up watching after 4 episodes but then returned to the last few just to know how the ends were knotted. Scriptwriter came up with a good story along the lines of a thriller but the teddy bear killed my mood. It could have been more captivating. The only appreciable part is the casting, all four look handsome, although their chemistry was mediocre. They seem four students from different departments of a college sharing a room being nice to each other. Vital part of any story is to connect with the audience which i clearly couldn't. Job's role felt over frustrated while Neung had no emotions being a stuffed toy. What purpose did the other two have? No idea. Typical lakorn playing in their parent's generation made the story even more boring furthermore the culprit could be guessed. I couldn't care less for the other technicalities in the series since the sheer length of 16 hours felt taxing. Each episode has at least half an hour of dead time. Airing on channel 3 it is available on Netflix. Despite the caution, anyone can watch this. Children are bolder and smarter these days. A teddy bear so huge or a human baby doll are the creepiest things to have at home. Now imagine them talking to you or turning into a human, only children would find it amusing.
