connecting to the book

In southern Iraq, the biblical Erech is believed to be Uruk, one of the first cities in the ancient world. By dating the canals in the city, archeologists hope to find the origin of the city. It is a story of religion, writing, trade, and how the Bible connects with the city.

Nineveh is located in northern Iraq under the modern city of Mosul. Some of its treasures were damaged or destroyed by Islamic State during the recent upheaval. The old city is surrounded by high walls with massive gates and home to around 100k people. It is seen as a city of sin in the biblical story of Jonah. Then this connects to the other well-known biblical sin city Babylon.

There are a few of these archeology shows on Discovery and they do look very similar. It probably helps in cross production with the same footage. This is only two episodes so far. This is trying to connecting the real places and real archeology to the biblical stories. It could try a little harder. Mostly, it's dealing with the archeology which is still very incomplete.
