Filmmaker and Lesbian lifestyle entrepreneur Jincey Lumpkin Esq. makes it crystal clear what she's driving at and what her influences are in her brief interview on the "Hotel" DVD, but results are still underwhelming, even on her terms.
Without being militant as say a Madison Young or Lily Cade is, Jincey tries for an alternate to the lesbian porn being made these days, even though her videos are distributed by the top mainstream label in the genre, Girlfriends Films. This shows up in casting, with new faces and less of the "appealing to the male audience" approach that dominates Lesbian Cinema, given that the viewership even now is still predominantly male.
Ms. Lumpkin presents five vignettes of identical format: wake up phone call in a Chelsea hotel room (not THE Hotel Chelsea, but shot in a studio nearby) with the lesbian couple in bed clad in white underwear based on the Calvin Klein look. They fondle and hump away against a white sheets backdrop, nothing in the frame to distract (or create some sort of visual interest) from the sex. This sameness is self-defeating.
A couple of quite butch ringers in the cast are distracting but overall effect is pleasant if enervating. Superstars of the genre Annabelle Lee and Ela Darling (latter gets two scenes worth of exposure) wrap up the final segment titled "Newlyweds" and bring the show back toward the mainstream a bit.
