Martini Film Studios, operator of a giant studio complex outside Vancouver, has taken a majority stake in Lighthouse Pictures, a genre film and TV production banner led by Jamie Goehring and Shawn Williamson.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the transaction will see Lighthouse Pictures’ current management and production teams remain at the company.
“Over recent years, I have witnessed the great reputation and success that Jamie and Shawn have built with Lighthouse Pictures and the quality of their work. We have had the pleasure of working closely with their teams, hosting many of their productions at our production facilities and backlot,” Gemma Martini, CEO of Martini Film Studios, said in a statement.

Two producers of Starz’s forthcoming Outlander prequel are taking on a different long-running book series for their next TV project.
Story Mining & Supply Co., the production company founded by Jim Kohlberg, has acquired rights to Edgar Award-winning author William Kent Krueger’s Cork O’Connor mystery thriller novels, about a half-Irish, half-Ojibwe sheriff turned private investigator in Minnesota. The company will adapt the books — there are 19 to date, with a 20th set to publish in August — for television and is currently meeting with writers. No outlet is attached yet.
Kohlberg and longtime partner Luke Parker Bowles, a former BAFTA East Coast chairman (and nephew of Britain’s queen consort), will executive produce the project along with Krueger.

Rumoured Bollywood couple Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur were seen enjoying the performance of the legendary English musician Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, known by his stage name Sting in Mumbai.
Sting took to the stage as the closing act for the second edition of the multi-genre music festival Lollapalooza India in Mumbai at the Mahalakshmi Race Course.
He performed about 16 songs in his one-and-half-hour-long performance. The musician strummed his guitar throughout the show to the tunes of his old classics, including ‘Every Breath You Take’, ‘Desert Rose’, ‘So Lonely’, ‘Shape of My Heart’, and ‘A Thousand Years’.

Dolly Parton isn’t done rocking yet. After sharing her new album Rockstar last week, our November cover star has returned with two new bonus tracks: Her rendition of the Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise,” plus a new version of her classic “Jolene” featuring Måneskin.
The Måneskin-assisted version of “Jolene” is available exclusively with the digital download version of Rockstar on Parton’s website, though the country icon did share a preview of the duet on Instagram. It sounds like the new recording stays fairly faithful to the original, with Måneskin’s Damiano David taking on co-lead vocals with Parton.

Dolly Parton has joined with surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on a new cover of the band’s 1970 hit, “Let It Be.”
The song is part of Parton’s upcoming album, Rockstar. Peter Frampton and Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood also appear on the track.

Rockstar (out Nov. 17) will be Parton’s 49th studio album, and features 30 tracks, including a few new Parton songs, including “World on Fire” and the promotional track “Bygones,” featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest.
Parton has also already released covers of Queen’s “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions” and Heart’s “Magic Man,” featuring Ann Wilson.

Jerry Moss, co-founder of A&m Records, has died. He was 88.
According to Variety, the record exec — who along with his business partner, Herb Alpert, turned A&m into one of America’s leading independent record labels — died Wednesday at his home in Bel Air.
“They truly don’t make them like him anymore and we will miss conversations with him about everything under the sun. The twinkle in his eyes as he approached every moment ready for the next adventure,” his family said in a statement to the Associated Press.
Dionne Warwick, who wasn’t an A&m artist, but had been close to Moss ever since he helped promote her music in the early 1960s also released a statement, calling him one of the “kindest gentlemen” and her “dear friend.”

Most people would never think of leaving their hit rock band at the peak of their success, but Sting, frontman of The Police, revealed why he and the rest of the group decided to disband after performing one of the biggest shows of their career.

The Police formed in 1977. The band’s lineup Included Sting, lead vocalist and bass guitar player, Andy Summers, guitar player, and Stewart Copeland, drummer.
The group’s big break came in 1979, with the release of their second album, Regatta de Blanc, which spawned hit singles “Message in a Bottle” and “Walking on the Moon.” Both went No. 1 in the UK.

Universal Music Group reported higher revenue and earnings for its second quarter on Wednesday amid growth across its businesses, including its recorded music unit, which benefited from releases from the likes of BTS and Olivia Rodrigo.
The music major, led by chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge, was spun off by French telecom and media conglomerate Vivendi, which retained a stake of about 10 percent, last fall.
Its second-quarter earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda), a key profitability metric, increased 18.7 percent, or 8.8 percent on a constant currency basis, to 507 million euros (512 million).
Quarterly revenue jumped 25.4 percent to 2.54 billion euros (2.57 billion), or 17.3 percent when assuming constant currency exchange rates. The company’s recorded music, music publishing and “merchandising and other” segments all contributed to the improvement.
In Umg’s recorded music unit, quarterly revenue rose 16.2 percent, or 9.0 percent assuming constant currencies, to 1.92 billion euros...
