Poignant, funny, well worth the watch
romney-grant3 April 2012
This is a beautifully shot, thought-provoking and sometimes funny story that takes a different look at 'growing old together' Kudos to filmmaker David Hovan, and his very talented cast and crew who tell a very long and undoubtedly complex story in six minutes without any dialogue or background music. The two leads - both over eighty-five years old - do a masterful job portraying slow burning resentment, resignation and wistfulness that accompanies a long but less-than-idyllic marriage. Each character lives in separate worlds. Lighting is soft, moody - truly perfect to portray the small European home of the couple and the gloomy atmosphere in which they live. Cinematographer is sixteen year old Brodie Hovannessian. This short has recently been named WINNER, Dramatic Short at the Oregon International Film Festival 2012.
